Upon using Facebook to register on our site, the system hangs after selecting, "Create My Account" --> "Select This Profile" -->"Complete Registration" the system then stalls and then returns the error "The page isn't redirecting properly". The Administrator is emailed that a new user has registered. The newly registered user is unable to do anything on the computer, even access the main site, the same error message is returned. This continues until that user is deleted from the system. Once deleted, the system returns to functioning "normally".

Hey there,

Hm, it seems like you are using a much older version of EasySocial. Is it possible for you to update to the latest version of EasySocial?

Yes we have been trying to upgrade to the latest version We had difficulties during upgrade and opened a ticket seeking assistance in upgrading to the latest version of ES. However, our initial message was NOT clear to this point so I have updated ticket #250746 to ask for assistance in updating to the latest version. I had thought our installation had been updated to the latest version, this was due to miscommunication ON MY PART as I moved from dialogue with general support to opening a support ticket (I did not share our main intent in upgrading to the latest version, in addition to resolving the stalling during upgrade). Sorry for any confusion, I will let you know if this issue persists after we have upgraded to the latest version. Appreciate your understanding and patience.

Hi there,

thank for that info and keep us update.

By the way, we're in the midst of moving all of our support into a centralized system and we're going to be using our forums instead. The reason is because the current helpdesk which we are utilizing (Kayako) is not an open source product and it's close to impossible for us to hack it to integrate nicely with Joomla. We have been getting tons of complains about users not being able to login.

In the future, would it be possible for you to please post your issues on our forums instead at http://stackideas.com/forums/ ?

Thanks for understandings.

Ok, I thought that I had went to forums to open the tickets... Anyway, no problem, we can do that in the future as well. Back to the issue at hand, EasySocial is now at the latest version and after attempting to login with Faceboook, we receive the same error "The page isn't redirecting properly". I'm not sure what the issue is, however based on past experience with redirect errors, it might be related to permissions with the default page perhaps? Let me know how I can assist in resolving the issue. Kind regards,

After spending almost the entire day debugging your site, all of these redirection issues are coming from the plugins xxx_system_plugin and your modules. It has nothing to do with EasySocial.

Apart from that, the menu module on your site is also performing an infinite loop on your site. As soon as I renamed the folder /modules/mod_menu to something else, the page works and there are no more infinite redirection. I have reasons to believe that:

1. Someone applied some funky hacks on your site
2. The menu is loading something from an extension that is also performing some funky redirection.

To fix the broken redirects, this is what I did,

1. Renamed the folders /plugins/system/xxxx_system_plugin
2. Renamed the folder /modules/mod_menu

You should review the changes that was made on your site and setup a fresh temporary site to test these out.

Hi Mark, I can't thank you enough for your time and effort in helping resolve this issue. Unfortunate to learn that it was not within ES, after learning of your feedback I discovered those plugins you mentioned are connected to our subscription component. As I mentioned, it had been since mid-summer since we were preparing the system. We've decided to step back and have disabled the subscription component for now. I also read your notes and the renaming of folders, yet we have decided to remove the Facebook signup links on the ES front-end as well to remove the redirect issues for now. Per your last comment Mark, it appears we still have some sort of loop even when not loggedin, this might be why we have always seen the message on ES login page "Please Login First" every time a user visits our page to login, even for the first time. So after shutting off the Subscription component and the FB login buttons on ES front-end we now have a system that functions fairly well. This is not our ideal outcome and we will need to address the redirect issue soon but do not have the resources at the present moment, perhaps soon. We have came across a different issue that we "believe" is within ES and will open a separate ticket to look at this further. Thanks for your patience and understanding! Kind regards
