Hi,
We have set up a new website and have been transferring the EasyBlog instance over along with some of the old blog posts, however we have come across an issue with the main image being displayed.

We have copied across the whole /images/easyblog_images/ folder from the old server to the new, however the main blog images are still not displaying at all (currently shows the holding image).
Looking at the source code I believe the issue comes from the Clarion template attempting to display the ‘large’ version of the image but it does not exist on the server.

For example one blog post is trying to use the image /images/easyblog_images/63/b2ap3_large_falloftheberlinwall.jpg
However the only versions which exist for this image is:
b2ap3_icon_falloftheberlinwall.jpg
b2ap3_thumbnail_falloftheberlinwall.jpg
falloftheberlinwall.jpg

It seems the original EasyBlog setup did not create the ‘large’ version of the image and therefore it is not available on the server and its not being picked up by the new layout.

Is there a way to generate the 'large' version for all the blog posts in one go?
If not, is there a way to have EasyBlog use the original image for the header area of the post, as that still exists on the server?

Thanks
Hey there,

Are you running on EasyBlog 5.x or EasyBlog 3.x? The image should automatically be re-generated unless there are some permission issues which the script isn't able to write to the respective folder. Are the permissions given to these "copied" folders set correctly?

You did mentioned that these images aren't being generated from the old server. If the images doesn't get generated on the old server, does this mean the image has never appeared on the blog posts?

Hi,
We are now running EasyBlog 5.x
The copied folders do have 755 permissions, are they generated automatically or do we need to trigger something to re-generate all the image versions?

One thing I did notice was when I uploaded a new image to a blog post it was actually saved into a different folder. Previously they were all saved under /images/easyblog_images/ but now they are being saved under /images/easyblog_articles/

The images were never generated on the old server (unsure why) but the template being used only displayed the icon/thumbnail images.

Regards,
Jack

Hey Jack,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Can you check my following step is it what you did previously?
1. Old site + Easyblog 3.x
2. Migrate all the Easyblog 3.x data into New site (Included copied all the /images/easyblog_images/ folder over new site)
3. Upgrade Easyblog from 3.x to 5.x

If yes, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a look?

In Easyblog 5, for the image cover it will stored in /images/easyblog_articles/ folder.

Hi,

Yeah those are the steps we followed when transferring across. Here are the backend details: (Updated on first post)

FTP is locked currently but we do have the extplorer extension installed so you can access the folder/file structure through there.

Any issues just let me know.

Regards,
Jack

Hey Commisceo,

1. What is the URL to your old site?

2. Is it possible for you to activate the FTP access? We need it to troubleshoot the problems that you are facing.

URL to the old website is http://www.kwintessential.co.uk, you can find the blog posts under http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/read-our-blog/latest.html

What is it that you are unable to do via the file explorer plugin (extplorer)? It may be that I can check some bits for you but currently FTP access is restricted.

Thanks,
Jack

Hey Jack,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply,

For some reason it can't regenerate that large size image in your site.

By the way, may i know can I have the permission to do following 2 method in your site?

Method 1 :
Database access for your new site and old site
FTP access for download your old site image file
1. Delete all the Easyblog table from your new site
2. Uninstall Easyblog from your site
3. Do re-migrate process again.

Method 2 :
1. Provide us with your old site Joomla backend, FTP and database access
2. Export your old site Easyblog all the table
3. Import your Easyblog table into my localhost
4. Test upgrade to Easyblog 5

Looking forward of your response.

Hi,

Apologies for the delay but we have been having issues with the FTP credentials. I have updated the original ticket with the details though so you should be able to access it - please be aware this is a very active, live website so please ensure no changes are made to it.

Database access is not so straight forward so if you need me to export specific tables, just let me know. I have attached all the easyblog tables from the source website.

Jack

I am sorry for the delay of this reply, I already imported in my locally, can you sent me with your previous all the images/easyblog_images/ file to me ? You can zip it together then upload to that site, then I can download it and move into my local, because I do not have your photo file.

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

If I am not wrong, your live site Easyblog already upgraded to version 5.x , I actually want to get your original photo file from your previous site.

Is it possible to zip these Easyblog image folder then upload to https://www.wetransfer.com , so that I can download through this way, if this is not possible, perhaps you can provide us with your previous site FTP access so we can download through FTP client?

Hi Arlex,

Like I mentioned before, I have already provided SFTP details for the previous website - can you not download the folders/files through that?
If you are unable, just say and I will do it for you.

Thanks

hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply and made you misunderstand in my previous reply,

What I mean is I would like to get your original photo from your old site if your old site data file still exist.

If your old site data still exist, can you point me which directory folder location you stored at?

If you already removed, can you provide us with your current site media folder location to me? Because you have a lots of folder and file from your FTP server.

May i know is it from this following file location?
/home/kwintessential/websites/kwintessential.co.uk/releases/shared/images

The old site data exists as the old site data is still being used for a live website (kwintessential.co.uk). And that is accessible via the SFTP details I gave you before...
And yes the directory is /home/kwintessential/websites/kwintessential.co.uk/releases/shared/images

Please make sure you make no edits or amendments to the kwintessential.co.uk server though as that is a live website

I already copy over your image folder into my localhost.

Can you point me which is the correct your current site Joomla root folder?

Or can you try download my attached file (extract it) and move all the photo into this folder location?

The current website is hosted on a completely different server.

I have given you the backend (Joomla) login details to the website (which is via http://178.62.62.75/administrator) and we also have the extplorer plugin installed as an alternative to FTP if you need to make any file/folder changes
