Hi guys

I have some questions regarding switching profiles for a user.
My setup;
I have these four Joomla user groups;
1. Registered users on the site
2. Club members
3. Publishers
4. Admins

I created four corresponding ES profiles. Paying members (registered users) will be manually set to club members. They get access to some Joomla articles and access to a thread in Kunena. The Publishers has access to create event in certain event categories.

Question 1 - the image below, how to think about "Also, switch their Joomla user groups as well"?
I don' really understand what this do.

Question 2 - I created same profile fields for Registered users and for Club members (I have named them the same, nothing more). When moving a registrered users to become club member I got a warning about they have to update their field and data will be lost. But it seams after the move the field data is there. How come? Is there a better approach?
Hi there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. Please find my answers from your inquiries below.

If you choose this options, that user's user group will automatically follow the user group that you have set inside the profile type here, http://screencast.com/t/n96K1n4F . For example if the user originally have "registered" user group and you want to switch the profile of the user into moderator profile type that have "moderator" user group set, that user will automatically switched their user group from "registered" to "moderator".

It is actually just a reminder and early warning in case there are some conflict between custom fields on both profile types. You can safely ignore the warning if the switching process is successful and all the data remain intact.

Sorry for being a bit slow.. I have my some users in the JS standard Publisher group and they will be in the ES profile "Regional administrator" - if i check the box "Also, switch their Joomla user groups as well" - what will happend? I still want them to have them in the JS Publisher group, if I don't switch the JS group they will stay there, but if I say yes..

How do the system "know" how to move over the field data? I only have the same name for the specific fields, I have not enter any code or something for the each field.

Hi Kristian,

Currently the only way to know if the user data inside custom field will remain intact is by manually check the profile after switching the profile.

Hi Kristian,

If you check the checkbox "Also, switch their joomla user groups as well", the user joomla group under "js standard publisher" will follow user group inside "regional administrator".

To understand things better, the user group that we mentioned here can be found under your backend > users > groups, http://screencast.com/t/I8PR5ALk . Hope these help.
