According to Google, if you're using the "V2" api, and the user's environment supports the checkbox reCAPTCHA widget, then end-users should see the checkbox reCAPTCHA. Among the minimum requirements are these browsers:

• Chrome 3.0.195
  
• Firefox 3.0
  
• Internet Explorer 7.0
  
• Opera 10.10
  
• Safari 4.0

What google api version does SI products currently support?

We are actually relying on v1 and we did not update it to v2 yet. Will take a look at their API
