Joomla 3.2.1
JS 3.1.0.2

The Events Plugin does not show the New Blog Post Option. The groups module does show it.

Posts to the blog of the group module does not show up in the group, but rather in the feed of the person posting it.

There is no option for the user to create their own blog within JS.

Although the tabs for events and groups now show the option "Blog" the counters above do not show the blog post.

Although new posts are shown in the activity stream of the poster, clicking on the activity will not take you to the post because it is missing the menu part of the root url. Ex:

http://site.com/index.php/easyblog/categories/listings/general-interest

and it should be:

http://site.com/index.php/home/easyblog/categories/listings/general-interest

***EDIT*** If I make an entry in the root of the current menu, the link works, if it is in a sub-menu, it will not link activities, to the blog.

Easyblog does not pull any info, such as the avatar, from JS

Just want to know if these are bugs, features that EasyBlog does not have, or simply I installed wrong.

Thanks!
Hello Marcos,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on the issue?

Hello MArcos,

Sorry for the late reply. Please send me your backend URL as well. We do not have your URL to check this out. Also when you can send us the FTP access, please do

Thanks!

Hi,

You can go to dashpoint.ca/corporate/administrator

There is a component called extplorer which will give you FTP and edit access to the server files.

I hope this helps.

Hello Marcos,

I need to edit a system plugin and if there's a typo, your entire site would not be accessible because even when using extxplorer, it still goes through the index.php of Joomla which also renders the system plugin. It's much safer for us to edit via FTP.

Hi,

You can use the same credentials to access:

ftp.dashpoint.ca

Let me know how that goes.

Thanks!

Hello Marcos,

Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

Posts to the blog of the group module does not show up in the group, but rather in the feed of the person posting it.

This is actually the default behavior because the blog post was created by the user and looking at the stream api of JomSocial, it seems like they are only hardcoding the stream to pull items from JomSocial only. There's no way to generate stream for Groups by 3rd party extensions.

There is no option for the user to create their own blog within JS.

Each user that is registered on Joomla has the ability to create blog posts on the site. However, they do not have their own address / blog per-se but if you have the EasyBlog app installed for JomSocial, the blog posts would appear on the person's profile.

Although the tabs for events and groups now show the option "Blog" the counters above do not show the blog post.

This is not a feature actually and there's no way to actually add a counter in the group headers

Although new posts are shown in the activity stream of the poster, clicking on the activity will not take you to the post because it is missing the menu part of the root url. Ex:

http://site.com/index.php/easyblog/categories/listings/general-interest

and it should be:

http://site.com/index.php/home/easyblog/categories/listings/general-interest
***EDIT*** If I make an entry in the root of the current menu, the link works, if it is in a sub-menu, it will not link activities, to the blog.

I have configured EasyBlog to always use the menu id of 345 which is a hidden menu that I have just created.

Easyblog does not pull any info, such as the avatar, from JS

You actually need to configure this in the back end settings of EasyBlog under the Layout > Avatars tab. I have done this for you and it should be pulling JomSocial avatars now.

Could you please login to my site and create two test blogs for me, one in an event, and another one in one of the groups????

Show me how it works in the groups tab and how it works in the event tab...

I am not understanding any of the functionality and the more emails go back and forth, the more confused I get.

Thanks!

Hello Marcos,

Sure, let me just try to simplify things here to very bare basics:

1. EasyBlog Group blogging plugin for JomSocial
It adds the blog functionality in JomSocial groups as you can see here, http://screencast.com/t/D77fSRhEvcRh

2. EasyBlog Event blogging plugin for JomSocial
It adds the blog functionality on JomSocial events as you can see here, http://screencast.com/t/eo6xBhr38PEt

Without these plugins, you wouldn't be able to create and publish blogs within Events and Groups. Is this clearer to you now?

Hi,

Just letting you know, that I logged in to my site, and it looks like it is working. What was it that I did not set up correctly? Why was it not working before?

It is working perfectly now, thank you!

BTW, is there a way to move the posts that I made from my public space into the specific group where they belong? Where would I change the relationship, in MySQL or does the plugin have a function for this?

Thanks again for you diligent help!

Hello Marcos,

There are actually some bugs with the way the "group" and event selection is chosen when you are writing from a group or event. This will be fixed in the next release of EasyBlog. If you want to move an existing blog post, simply edit the blog post, scroll down and select the option to post into the group that you want.

Thank you for fixing it! If I were to reinstall the modules, would I need to contact you again to make it work properly?

Hi guys,

The blog tab is no longer showing on groups and events. Could you check. Also, I have noticed that after installing the plugins has disabled the ability for us to delete posts from the stream.

Related or not, could you check this for us?

Any help will be appreciated.

dashpoint.ca

no https.

you will also notice that in a group you cant add an announcement or a discussion, because the next field is not available.

Those are the three things we noticed after the install of the plugin, the original being that we cant delete posts. I'll be online waiting as we need this fixed asap.

Hello Marcos,

I didn't actually modify anything on the site, I only tried creating a group and creating a blog post seems to be working fine for me. As for deleting the stream item, it works fine for me too. Not sure what is actually broken for you ?

Hi,

This keeps happening. Can you go in and check why the "New Blog" option doesn't appear in the group menu?

Thanks
