I have managed to help you install EasySocial using the launcher without any issues. I use the steps as outlined in the documentation.

EDIT: I noticed you mentioned uploading the launcher through ftp. May I know the reason you did not upload the launcher package at Joomla's extension installer(http://take.ms/ogBP9)?
