Hi Starting in September 2019, a new regulation called Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) will require businesses in Europe to request additional authentication for online payments. How is PayPlans being updated to comply with these new requirements?

Will there be updated to existing payment gateway apps?

Many thanks
Hello Thomas,

Thanks for reaching out to us. SCA cannot be done on our platform because it needs to be done by the respective authorities who perform the billing. For instance, with Stripe, they will perform the SCA when you are making the payment using 3d Secure 2. Here are some implementation guides for these providers, https://take.ms/2lkF5

Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting back to me however after discussing with Stripe and PayPal (our payment gateways for PayPlans) they advised that they perform the SCA but it will require updates to the API implementation in PayPlans. Therefore surely the payment apps will need to be updated in line with the new API's for each payment gateway?

Please help to clarify.

Many thanks

Hey Thomas,

Yes, in case of Stripe Api Implementation required to perform SCA. We already started working on SCA for Stripe payment method and it will be available soon.

Regarding Paypal payment gateway, if the user complete their payment by Paypal, the payment process actually will redirect back to Paypal website, so this SCA should be done on Paypal side instead of Payplans. By the way, we will check it again if we need to update Paypal integration code in Payplans or not.

Thank you for understanding !
