With the latest update of komento, to make comments done on easyblog/fwgallery also visible on the stream, it is possible for me to get rid of the latest comments modules (from komento) on the frontpage and only show the public stream module of easysocial to show the latest comments in the sidebar on the homepage.

However, I do see stream items in the public stream module, mentioning that user X has commented on picture Y (from fwgallery or comments on easyblog), but ONLY when I am logged on to the site with.

I want that also no-members can see those stream items in this module, when visiting the website.
When going to someones profile as not-logged in member, the stream items are visible on the profile part. That makes it a bit strange.

However, I have searched almost al settings twice in the backend and I even tried to search if it was just a simple php edit in some of the module files. I just cannot find out where to set the privacy of these stream komento items. They must be public ;-)

p.s. It would also be nice if I can somewhere select for the stream module, to show the name or the avatar. Now it is a bit at random. Sometimes the avater is shown in the module, but most of the times it is just the name.
a little sidenote:

I dont see komento comments, done by guests, at all in the stream...

Hello,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as I was currently not available during the weekend as I was attending a Joomla conference in Thailand.

Are you referring to the latest comments module? You can just unpublish the module in the module manager As for the stream items for public / registered, it actually depends on the user's privacy. If they have set it to registered, then it will only be available for registered users. We need to respect the user's privacy

Hello,

thanks for the reply.

I understand the need to respect the users privacy and this is working correctly with the module.
Except for the comments made in Kommento!

When a user without profile (public) goes to the profile of someone who made some comments on easyblog or fwgallery pictures, the comments of that user can been seen on the profile. Meaning, they are standig public...

however, the stream module, does not follow this rule it looks. The stream module does not show the kommento comments done by the user.
It looks like the stream module (which i use on the frontpage) is always making kommento comments set to private. whether they are public or not. (cause, when a user logs in, the stream module does show the comments)

Next to this, Kommento comments done by guest users are not visible at al in de stream module. It would be nice to also have some stream notification of guest comments.

Hello Chris,

I am really sorry, I guess I missed your reply earlier. Hm, yeah I guess if the comments that is posted is visible publicly, then it should appear on the stream as well. Will take a look at this again.

Hi Chris,

Regarding your comments stream not visible to your guest, its caused by the steam library in EasySocial and we've the issue fixed internally. Attached the updated files and please follow the below instruction to patch the files on your site

1. Download file stream.php copy the file into folder 'JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/stream/' and overwrite the existing file 'stream.php'.

2. Download file template.php and copy the file into folder 'JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/stream/' and overwrite the existing file 'template.php'

Next, go to your EasySocial backend under profiles -> [select profile] -> Privacy tab and select 'everyone' on the privacy rule 'Who can view my other items. ' and tick the checkbox 'Tick the checkbox to reset all user's default privacy under this profile. ( This will also reset previous privacy settings of items belong to the users.) ' and then click save. Please see http://screencast.com/t/seEluBmXK4FF

The above step will reset the stream's privacy for your komento's comments

I dont see komento comments, done by guests, at all in the stream...

This is actually the correct behaviour as comments made by guest will not generate any stream items in EasySocial.

Let me know if you still having issue displaying komento stream items to your guest users.
Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam
