strange styling on registration approval

When I go to approve a new member I get very strange behavior on the acceptance page.

I've included a good example in the site details.
for some reason the styling goes completely strange.
I've tried another template and it doesn't do it there but it does on the protostar based template we use.
if you could possible help me figure out why it would be appreciated.

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Have you created any menu's that links to EasySocial on the site? You need to create a hidden menu item that links to EasySocial's dashboard. Without the menu item, EasySocial can't associate it's links with the menu id on the site.

HUH? ok, I'm totally confused... I thought we're dealing with a styling issue?
I've attached a image to show what is happening vs what should be.
I'm not sure at all what you mean by a hidden menu item.

Hello Troy,

To be honest, I am not really sure what the issue is but based on what you have told us on the post above, it does seem like EasySocial was not able to locate a correct Item id for the URL. Hence, the URL isn't properly generated. When the Itemid does not exist in the URL, Joomla will not display the modules on the page since it doesn't know what modules to load on the page.

guess what? Removing the jomsocial menu & its items ( other post ) cured it!!!
do I need jomsocial installed to pull the video with 1.3.0 or is just the db good enough?
