My customer is using the new blog entry notification as sort of an email newsletter for a daily blog post. I have customized and tested the email.blog.new.html.php template as well as the HTML for the blog postings in order to present the posting cleanly laid out in both the website front end and the HTML emails. When I moved all of this over from their test site to their live site, the emails are not being formatted as expected. It would appear as though the notification email template that is being used is not the email.blog.new.html.php template, but rather the email.template.html.php template. This template has a reference to EasySocial in the comments and I can find nowhere that suggests that this template is what EasyBlog uses to send out a new blog posting notification to subscribers of this particular category. Could there be a bug that is causing EasyBlog to use the wrong template? I was going to try and reproduce the issue in my test site for them, but I'm having some trouble getting emails to send out correctly from there and I'm concerned with testing things out on their live site.
Hello Jim,

By default, Easyblog will use the email template from ../components/com_easyblog/themes/default/email.blog.new.html.php and in your case for new blog post, EB is using this file: email.blog.new.html. Can you provide us your backend and FTP access so we can have a better look on your issue here? Please advise.

I can send you the access you request, however, I'm unsure of how to go about doing that. How would you like me to send you the access information, this is a public forum?

Hello Jim,

I've checked your email and compare it to your modified email.blog.new.html.php and it has the same style: http://screencast.com/t/Ex7lfjuph . Did I missed anything? Please advise.

If you look at the raw source of the actual email that is sent, you'll see a number of embedded tables that are used to lay out the email. This structure isn't a part of my custom template that I've made for email.blog.new.html.php. I started to dig around into a few of the other templates and found that this table structure is found in the template email.blog.new.html.php. This is why I made the assumption that the system was somehow using the incorrect email template. The post you are referencing was created incorrectly and doesn't really show the end results very well. The gal that did the blog entry somehow forgot to put any content into the entry. They have since corrected this and the next blog entries should have content that you can observe.

Hello Jim,

Ah, I understand now. Yes, Easyblog use the email.template.html.php as a base for the email and load up the email.blog.new.html.php here: http://screencast.com/t/EDvXqsHtwV3 . You might want to also modify the email.template.html.php. Hope this helps.

Is this something new? When I was testing this process, the only template I ever touched was the email.blog.new.html.php and was able to get the desired results. When I mimicked those exact same changes on my live site was when I began to experience the oddities.

Hello Jim,

I believe this is not new and it is already there. You should also modify the email.template.html.php since this file is a email template to all email. May I know is your issue is resolved now? If not perhaps can you explain back the newest issue regarding this?

Please be advise.
Thanks.

I see what happened with this now. One of the updates modified all of these templates so my results weren't as expected. You are correct, this isn't anything new, however, it is a different template. I've replaced the template with the original and now the email is being formatted as expected. Thank you for all your help, this issue is resolved.
