some posts in the back end have alphanumeric ips
like 2a02138840862800e9051be16d0219e2
but as i know ip6 has 8 groups and is set like that 2606:6e00:c000:1000::504
i tried to make a ip search of 2a02138840862800e9051be16d0219e2 and i the ip does not work syntax is wrong i suppose
is there a way to fix this? thanks.
Hi Athanasios,

I could not access your backend with the provided credentials: https://take.ms/QjTTj

Please advice.

Hello Athanasios,

Hm, this is odd. Do you have steps to replicate this? At a glance, it does seem like it is an ipv6 address but the table column stores the ip as characters, so the colon ( should be allowed on the column and it shouldn't be stripped.

Are these posts submitted by users or was it imported from an e-mail? Also, do you have the phpmyadmin access?

Hey Athanasios,

It appears that Joomla filter is stripping out the colons from IPs that are in ipv6 format.

I have applied a temporary fix on the following file:
JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easydiscuss/includes/post/post.php

Can you help us monitor new questions and replies again and let us know how are IPs with ipv6 format are being stored, so we know that the fix works?

ok no problem. i had made changes for one component that i don't use at this time it was the SEO Glossary from joomunited.com maybe they alter something so that the component can filter the content of the posts? i don't know i will reinstall it and see if it works as it should if not then this was the issue causing the wrong numbers...i will look at it at weekend and report back.
