When i link to an image in the story part of Community Events the layout and loading time is fine (I use Thumbnail/Tile/16:9/Stretch to Fill (Cover)/128px) in both the Event and Community Stream.

However when I link to a Facebook Page, the preview shows a small square image on the left but after clicking on add link the full FB Page feed that you would see in a module appears and takes slightly longer to load.

Is this what is intended to happen or is the a setting where i only get an image of the FB page to link from? I don't mind the FB feed, the idea is good, but an option to only have the header image of the FB page and not the feed would be good.

The vertical feed looks out of place in the centre of a 16:9 layout format but that is what i am using so not a lot i can do about it.

You can see it here
Hi Richard,

I believe you are referring to this stream item( https://www.screencast.com/t/iCCEFXOjL ) isn't it?
May I know how to replicate this issue? as I try to link to the facebook page it was not shows as facebook page feed : https://www.screencast.com/t/f9hyveAks5vE

If you log in to the site, go to ../community/events menu, go to the first event (on Jul 16), go to the story area and click on link, enter this facebook page link, click on add link and the square image in your screencast will appear on the left hand side.

However when you click on share, the feed will be added to the event stream and from that to the community stream.

I've applied some temporary fix into your site, can you give it a check is it work fine now?
JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/streams/links/preview.php
JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/crawler/hooks/abstract.php

By the way, i will log this issue into our issue tracker as well.

Thank you Arlex, all fine now, appreciated.

Ref showing the Facebook feed, it was useful to be able to see it as it was possible to browse, share, like anything etc without leaving the site, so i wouldn't throw the concept out completely, it may be suitable somewhere else where it wouldn't impact on load time.

I know i can add custom fields to events, maybe it an extra option to be added there as part of event information or a 'Social Feeds' link just below it (or maybe it can already be done)?

Just meandering thoughts.......

Hi Richard,

Ref showing the Facebook feed, it was useful to be able to see it as it was possible to browse, share, like anything etc without leaving the site, so i wouldn't throw the concept out completely, it may be suitable somewhere else where it wouldn't impact on load time.

-> Regarding this, when sharing facebook page (link) its not supposed to be displayed page feed at the first place. I believe Facebook has implement json oembed as well in the page (where by default it is only used for facebook's video link share). It is quite a great idea you have here, maybe we can implement the concept somewhere else. Perhaps, can you create a new ticket under 'feature request' so our developers can keep track the feature request that can be implement in the future release

I know i can add custom fields to events, maybe it an extra option to be added there as part of event information or a 'Social Feeds' link just below it (or maybe it can already be done)?

-> Unfortunately, it is not possible to show facebook feed in the event information currently.

Hey Richard,

After our developer checked on this Facebook PAGE share link issue, actually it intended to show Facebook PAGE embed iframe on the stream instead of display Facebook PAGE cover image, so when the user look at this stream on the dashboard, these user can able to LIKE the Facebook PAGE through the stream directly. (screenshot : http://take.ms/ki9JT )

But the reason why it show broken layout some time when you add Facebook PAGE link on Easysocial is because Facebook the way their render their iframe on the page is based on their script, based on what i tested, if your existing page already have Facebook script loaded (for example one of the stream already load the Facebook script to render the iframe on the page), it will show broken layout when you add second Facebook PAGE link into Easysocial stream, this is something we can't be fix. But when you refresh the page, it will render correctly the iframe on the stream.

And our designer will try to make the Facebook PAGE embed iframe show nicely on the stream in next release version, you can check my attached screenshot below.
