It seems that you still using older version of EasySocial. I would advice you to update/upgrade to it latest version as this issues may have fixed on our latest version.

In addition, if Content Truncation is enabled I feel it would be nice to have a text counter that lets the user know they have xxx characters left of yyy.

Regarding this, this truncation is not used to limit user character, it is just to shown fewer word on listing only.

Please advice.

I don't understand the purpose of these settings.

1. Website is now updated to the latest ES 2.0.8 and it still does not work.
2. It does not work as one would expect
3. There is already a setting for Content Truncation in the Global Settings, why is it here as well? Settings > General > Layout

I would have expected it to work similar to what I described above (Twitter).

Please revaluate this App and the other three Story Apps for Events, Groups and Pages and consider making better use of these settings to enforce content length.

We want standardize everything using one setting only as this truncation and other settings can be controlled using main setting only and we still refactoring our EasySocial and it seems that we have miss-looked this kind of things and those kind of thing will be removed from each apps. Regarding this issues, it seems that we cant implement this currently as Facebook also provide user to write long and no limitation to how much characters should user put. I am sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for your understandings.
