Hi just wondered if anyone has had any trouble viewing the site through a ssl, when i have mine installed and switched on and go to a menu link like photos i get a 500 internal server error.

I'm trying to sort this out with my hosting provider but they arnt being very helpful today so thought i'd quickly see if anyone has enccounted a problem like this here and what fix there is
or what it is I am doing wrong

thanks
Hello Jason,

Changing the site to https:// shouldn't cause Internal Server Errors. It's most likely a misconfiguration on your webserver's configuration

Hi thanks

The problem has been resolved, it was apparently the site was making to many redirects (how i dont know) and the fix was to add a rewritebase/ rule.

In the folder where i have my joomla/easysocial installation there are 3 folders which i dont recognise, * www and one called trickery.

These are copies of the site which i havent created.. I just wondered,, there is no point during the installation of easysocial or upgrading that would create new folders such as these is there, it seems odd.

My hosting advise me to delete them but just thought i'd ask first.

I have been told to change my control panel password to be on the safe side but the irony is I've just bought this hosting and domain to run easysocial so it would be strange if someone has gained access already but hopefully its something simple.

Normally the www folder is not in the public_html folder I havent a clue where * folder came from and the other copy of my site in the folder trickery is a mystery

any thoughts on this,, thank you

i followed the guide of my hosting provider and deleted those folders but wish i hadnt now my site is throwing a 404 not found message so they were obviously of some use but its strange because the site folders as I would expect to see them for a joomla installation are all there in the public_html folder

Hello Jason,

Hm, those folders are not created by EasySocial for sure. Perhaps it was created by another component?
