Any way to enable some kind of spam protection like captcha to the subscribe to blog link and module. I'm getting floods of subscriptions that appear to be fake.
It is a general problem, not really a Stackideas problem, the free Spambotcheck component will stop almost all fake registrations.
You can see my more detailed suggestion in this thread
Thanks for the link. However, I was referring to the subscription feature not joomla or easyblog registration which the tips mentioned address very well. It'd be nice to at least have the captcha box for those wishing to subscribe to posts rather than just ask for name and email.
To be honest, I have never seen "spammers" trying to sign up to get "spammed". They are the ones normally wanting to "spam" and adding a recaptcha field for subscriptions in my opinion is a big loss for you because you are trying to make the process to subscribe harder and this will cause you to lose subscriptions
That's a good point. I just it very odd to see over a dozen subscriptions appear within a span of 10 minutes all with single letter names and either gmail or hotmail addresses.
I suspect it may be a way for spammers to validate the admin email associated with the website as the spammers would receive a confirmation email.
