Hello guys, the title summarizes effectively my topic, but I would like to justify it by saying that deletion is quite a drastic measure, especially since the comment is immediately deleted upon clicking on the Delete button in the moderation email. It could be clicked accidentally, or it could even be clicked on purpose (maliciously) eg. by an author and the comment would be completely gone.

Could something as simple as editing /emails/comment.moderate.php file (line 74) work, eg. by replacing $deleteLink with another possibly defined variable like "$spamLink" or is it something that requires much more work than that?

Thanks in advance for your time and effort.
Kind regards,
Hey there,

Yes, you're right the delete comment function from the new comment moderation email doesn't respect the ACL setup and this is considered a bug. I will log this into our issue tracker.

Thanks!

Hey there,

Thank you for providing a thorough explanation of your problem. Changing the $spamlink variable isn't simple, and it takes a lot more effort.

Thanks!

Hello, thanks for answering. I think this effort has to be put because it might not be just my problem. Think of it this way: you have done quite a nice and thorough work in ACL, but say there is an implementation where comments need to be moderated by the article author and the author does NOT have permission to delete any comments (not even his own).

This button in the moderation email which permits comment deletion, directly contradicts the ACL setup...
