Hi when I try and install through the installer i get the following error which seems common.

- It is also a fresh install that I am doing.
- Joomla 3.4.8
- Easyblog Full Pro 5.0.32

Sorry, there was some errors when trying to extract the queries.zip file. Please contact our support team.

Please can you fix this and let me know what the issue is. The is a very common problem but I cannot actually find a solution on the fourm, all i see is the term 'All Fixed', which is great but not very useful to me.

A faq article would be great for those of use that can fix these issues and would speed things up.

Thanks
Solution

Let me tell you what is going oin otherwise I will be here for weeks. This might be helpful from everyone else.

In the Easyblog downloads section there are 3 packages

  • Download Launcher
  • Download Component
  • Download Full Package

These names are not good and is why the queries.zip error occurs (Stackideas needs to rename these).

There are 3 packages because of the size of the installation files and some websites cannot upload them due to restrictions.

Download Launcher - This is a small ~1mb extension file that can be installed via the joomla extensions manager. It then gives you 2 options to install easyblog.

  • (1) Installation Via the Network - This installation is performed over the internet and requires a valid API key/subscription (recommended)
  • (2) Installation via Directory - This method allows you to upload an Easyblog installation package to a specified folder from which the installer then uses these sources bypassing most restrictions to install Easyblog.

Download Component - The title is misleading as this 'package' doesnt just contain the component, it also contains all of the modules and plugins. This package is designed to be uploaded manually to the a folder specified by the 'Download Launcher' for a manually installation.

Download Full Package - Again this is a stupid title. This package is designed to be installed directly via the Joomla Extensions manager for those with higher spec websites that meet the criteria for such a large package. This package contains both the 'Download Launcher' and the 'Download Component' already embedded. This is where it gets the name 'Full' from. This package also contains all of the plugins and modules because you are installing the package above, 'Download Component'

The queries.zip error, What causes it?

Now you know what the 3 packages do and that their names are wrong and misleading, I can tell you that the cause of the queries.zip error is because you are trying to install the Download Full Package via the Download Launcher and this file is not designed for that, so when the launcher is looking for the queries.zip file it cannot find it because it is not there. All of those forum postings about file permissions in most cases are wrong, you are simply installing with the wrong package because the download names are stupid and need changing.

This probably applies to all of StackIdeas products where you need to use a launcher.

Please add this to the FAQ

Hi there,

I am sorry for the late reply for this. Actually, we have to tried to install it as usual (using launcher), and it works just fine for us, as well as we do not hit any issue like you stated above. Please let us know if you need further assistance. Cheers!

There is 2 ways of installing by the launcher. I should of mentioned that I was using it via a file upload and not the remote installation method.

Which method did you use?

thanks

Thanks for installing easyblog but i think you, and the whole stackideas team seem to be ignoring this issue caused by doing a network install and is present on easy social and possible other of your extensions. This needs fixing.

The cause is most likely the queries.zip filename is causing a MODSEC security rule getting triggered and therefore blocking the extraction of the queries.zip which inturn breaks the installation.

Would you guys look into this because a remote/API installation is not always available.

thanks

It seems like your hitting that error is most likely of your file permission issue and this was related to the group permission settings on the server. Can you consult with your webhosting provider is it shown for all files and folders to the correct owners? This issue is same as the previous ticket Here .Have a nice day ahead

this is not an answer but a guess. the forum post you have sent me to is pointless and a waste of time.

1) i am running cpanel with suphp/suexec running so it is not likely to be file permissions

2) i have checked my file permissions are correct with the joomla admin panel and RSFirewall, all writable and 755/644

3) the fact that easyblog installed via the remote installer also means it is not likely to be file permissions

4) if it is file permissions, which folder or file? you have not given me anything to work with.

5) when you group permission what are you referring to the 755/644 file and folder permission.

please read my points.

thanks

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I've tried to access in your Joomla backend and I would like to reproduce this installation issue but I hitting this following error :
403: Access Forbidden
Your location (MY) has been blacklisted.

Based on what I read from this thread, are you still facing this installation issue if you re-install latest version of Easyblog again in your site?

If yes, is it possible unblock my current IP address 175.145.128.156 so that I can further investigate on this issue?

By the way, what I encounter one of the issue previously, like what you share with me all of your current folder/file permission all show writeable from Joomla backend system information page, is actually can't represent your hosting is it applied a chown for all of your files and folders to the correct owners or groups permission from server.

Looking forward of your response.

PLEASE READ THE THREAD, you keep ignoring what information I am giving you.

USE 'Installation via Directory' to do the upgrade. This still causes the queries.zip error. It is this that I want fixing

DO NOT USE 'Installation by the Network'

I have disabled the firewall rules.

thanks

It seems like all of your file/folder permission is set correctly, because it work fine for me when I use 'Install via Directory' method in Easyblog, you can check with my video link here : http://screencast.com/t/8VSJmTjJojz

By the way, may i know are you using Joomla extension page that install via directory method?

Looking forward of your response.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Yes, I upload the full package installer through Joomla installer instead of upload through FTP.

What I do is download the full package installer from our site -> http://screencast.com/t/GAaWcU5V (screenshot)

Then upload through Joomla installer and inside Easyblog installation second step page select "install from directory"-> http://screencast.com/t/Szcn5EGvunk (video)

By the way, I do not know what is the security reason gmail block my installer attachment when I trying to send to you through the email, you can check my screenshot here -> http://screencast.com/t/MccEXK2TZ8JM (screenshot)

Perhaps you can download the Jing software here https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html then record a video and share with us, so that I can see how you do the installation step.

This is getting painful. I told you my problem yet you keep giving me answers that you want.

My problem is (just so we are clear)

  • I upload the com_easyblog_launcher_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip
  • I start the installation
  • I upload com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip to /home/campsi16/public_html/administrator/components/com_easyblog/setup/packages/
  • I then start the procedure using the installer immdiately
  • i select com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip via installation via directory
  • and get then queries.zip error

This is my problem yet you seem to try and fix everything but this.

This installation method does not work, Why?

hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

  • I upload the com_easyblog_launcher_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip
  • I start the installation
  • I upload com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip to /home/campsi16/public_html/administrator/components/com_easyblog/setup/packages/
  • I then start the procedure using the installer immdiately
  • i select com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.30_joomla3.0.zip via installation via directory
  • and get then queries.zip error

Based on your step, I already saw the issue and you already described on your last reply above.

In Easyblog 5, we have provided 3 different method for Easyblog installation.

Method 1 : com_easyblog_launcher_pro_5.0.32_joomla3.0.zip (Download Launcher)
If you upload this launcher installer through Joomla installer page, you have to select "Installation via the Network" and enter your API key.
screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/lYxJvQqat8Fs

Method 2 : com_easyblog_component_pro_5.0.32_joomla3.0.zip (Download Component)
If you decide to use this method, you have to upload the launcher installer through Joomla installer page first.
Once you are inside the Easyblog installation first step, you have to put this "com_easyblog_component_pro_5.0.32_joomla3.0.zip" zip file into JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easyblog/setup/packages/.. and then only click "Next" button.
After that, you have to tick "Installation via Directory" and select the component package.

Method 3 : com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.32_joomla3.0.zip (Download Full Package)
If you upload this full package through Joomla installer page, you have to tick "Installation via Directory" and select the component package.

By the way, Thanks for your feedback, we will see if we can change a better name for that so the user will not confuse in the future.
