Hi there!

I came looking for a blog, and now I'm thinking that EasySocial, EasyDiscuss, EasyBlog and Komento might actually make a nice package together.

I have a few questions (I might think of more)

Email notifications: Can I set a limit in EasySocial to prevent exceeding my host's quota of sent mails per hour? I have a fairly high quota in place but supposing a discussion thread had a 5000 replies and someone posts reply 5001... If the notifications all got sent at once this would go over quota, so is this where the Cron job comes in, to send out batches?

EasyDiscuss and protected categories: My current site uses Kunena (it's a Minecraft server site). I've got some categories that are only accessible to moderators etc. If I had EasyDiscuss auto posting to my Facebook page, can I restrict which categories get auto-posted? I would only want the public accessible categories to do that.

Community Builder import: Can I import data from my Community Builder installation? This is less of a problem, as it really doesn't get used much by the users, but it might be nice to at least bring in their CB avatars

Kunena import: (hopefully someone who has moved from Kunena can give an opinion): I'm considering not actually importing Kunena but rather just lock it down and leave it available for a while as an "archived old forum" and then take the opportunity to just prune it out and start fresh with EasyDiscuss. I'm just wondering how others have dealt with the move from Kunena

EasySocial privacy: Can users over-ride the global defaults and lock down their profiles if they wish (in the same way you can on Facebook, where you can be un-searchable by the public etc. basically allowing each user to fine tune their privacy settings?

Social Professional Bundle: Am I correct in thinking that this is the Professional version of each component included?

That's all for now
Hello Steve,

Thank you for your interest in our products. Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

You can configure the number of e-mails to get processed every time the cron URL is being accessed. Perhaps you should set the cronjob to run every 5 minutes and set a limit of 50 e-mails? This way you only send a maximum of 600 e-mails max every hour.

EasyDiscuss and protected categories: My current site uses Kunena (it's a Minecraft server site). I've got some categories that are only accessible to moderators etc. If I had EasyDiscuss auto posting to my Facebook page, can I restrict which categories get auto-posted? Hm, unfortunately this wouldn't be possible currently

Community Builder import: Can I import data from my Community Builder installation? This is less of a problem, as it really doesn't get used much by the users, but it might be nice to at least bring in their CB avatars

Sorry but currently we don't have a migrator for Community Builder yet but we'll be adding them in EasySocial 1.2 which is the upcoming major release of EasySocial.

Kunena import: (hopefully someone who has moved from Kunena can give an opinion): I'm considering not actually importing Kunena but rather just lock it down and leave it available for a while as an "archived old forum" and then take the opportunity to just prune it out and start fresh with EasyDiscuss. I am a big fan of this idea and I think it's ideal to slowly move away from the forums rather than migrating it over. I always think that migrating over from Kunena to EasyDiscuss would lead into more confusions because EasyDiscuss is not a native forum style system. It's a hybrid between a forum / question and answer system.

EasySocial privacy: Can users over-ride the global defaults and lock down their profiles if they wish (in the same way you can on Facebook, where you can be un-searchable by the public etc. basically allowing each user to fine tune their privacy settings?

Yes, that is correct

Social Professional Bundle: Am I correct in thinking that this is the Professional version of each component included?

Yes, that is correct

Hope this helps! Looking forward to have you on board with us!

Thanks for the quick reply

That all sounds good, I'll live without the auto-post, if that ever becomes a feature in the future, would be cool though
CB import, I can live without, I don't think anyone really used the blogging etc in it - I always felt it was a bit limited and felt clunky anyway.
At least my idea of retiring the old forum isn't completely mad then

I shall have a bit more of a play with the demos, and likely get it all organised shortly.

Not a problem, I was surprised to hear from you this late/early anyway

Another thought occurred to me; I have a few static type articles, introduction to the game server (featured article), server rules etc under a section elsewhere on the site. If I keep my current home page (the featured article, I guess I can add a menu to point to the EasySocial dashboard and have a module on the home page showing latest activity type of thing?

I promise to let you sleep before asking any more questions

Have a great weekend!

Hello Steve,

Sorry, it was a little late last night Yep, that is correct, you could just create menu items to link to the respective extensions

Hey Mark,

Well, I've gone and got the bundle. So far I've run through EasySocial on my test dev site and just now putting it on my live site, and all I can say is Wow!! This is awesome!

I've got some tweaking to do with CSS etc, but I am absolutely amazed so far!

My users are going to love this!

Hello Steve,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Thanks for the support and the kind compliments

To customize your registration workflow, it's really simple. Go to the Profiles area at the back end of EasySocial and click on the "Registered User" profile. This is the default profile that was created by EasySocial by default. Then, click on the Custom Fields tab
