While I too am constantly finding issues, I feel much happier with ES than many of the other profile systems out there. I've seen some "scary" profile systems that look great on the surface, but are daunting when you want any modifications done. The stacked team has a lot of complications they have to work out, for ES 1.2 they had to work out hundreds upon hundreds of issues (no exaggeration). The progress of each release is always encouraging as well as the willingness of the staff to help with each issue that arises.

For myself I have to do what I can to help the stacked folks identify issues in the software, sometimes that involves hours of testing. Once the issues are worked out, we will have profile software that is better than most profiles on the entire internet! I can say that with confidence. Aside from sites like YouTube, Facebook and a handful of others, very few sites have big scale activity streams that make it easy for users to see what their friends are doing. My theme behind saying this is that I am trying to encourage you that it will be worth fighting through to the end.

In terms of stability, please please create a test site! This is very important for any major site out there. This way you can have the stacked team resolve issues before having them go live on the main site. So when you get an upgrade, do it to the test site. See how it goes, then apply it to the main site. To make a test site, simply copy the files of your main site into a test folder. Then create a separate database and associate the config file to the test database.

Are there times that are more stable than others with ES releases? Perhaps the main site ought to operate in phases where you do major upgrades when the test site is stabilized. I know it's not perfect, but at least it helps keep the stability you want. As of right now, how many current issues do you have? I keep a text document where I keep track of issues that I'm experiencing. This way I can carefully cycle through them and pick good times to send the requests to the stacked team.

So what I'm recommending is to get the current issues resolved by making sure the requests go through, then copy your site to make a test site. From there on out, upgrade the test site first. If all is good, upgrade your real site. If not, proceed to get the test site issues resolved. Unfortunately with any Joomla activity stream system you can expect a few issues with upgrades. Eventually EasySocial will have most of the major features we would want which is when I suspect that upgrades won't be as big of a deal.

You can keep the main site stable and relatively bug free (assuming you get to stable ground at some point), you just have to make sure your approach is good.

I haven' t so many times for this.
Upgrade both test and live site and write track issues. More than 3 issues are bad for product.
my site is my hobby not alldays job. So I am not english speaking person who can free talk. I spend many time for writting issues thinking how to correctly say.
support did some changes at my site but they don't say what they did never. I cannot know what they do. How i will make these changes at live site if they will did it at test? Always copy and copy site??? No.

and i say now - i tired i would like just use and get updates but not waiting for answers to my issues.

Firstly, I do understand your frustrations and in fact, I would feel the same if I were in your position. But let's try to make you a happier person at the end of the day and give us a chance to find the issues and get them solved once and for all

1. I have problem with registration (login module refer to registration which not works)

I am not sure if which page are you referring to but I have tried to register for an account on the site at http://svetreiki.ru/register.html , and this is what I am getting after registering, http://screencast.com/t/nmympqWESnX .

2. I have problem with facebook login

As mentioned at the thread at http://stackideas.com/forums/can-t-login-with-facebook , we are unable to reproduce this error on your site and we can only suspect that this is either due to the browser cache or probably the specific browser with specific locale settings. I can only verify this if we do a teamviewer session so that I can try it from your computer.

This is a known issue in 1.2.7 and we'll be addressing this in 1.2.8. We have added a patch on the site and it works fine now, http://screencast.com/t/twf9oqeQH

4. This component has a big problems with caching (because login)

Here's the irony about caching and something most of you have been misunderstanding about the purpose of caching. You would WANT TO CACHE something that is STATIC. For instance, on normal article pages that doesn't change very often, it makes sense to cache these items. What you are trying to cache is the registration page which doesn't make sense because how would you want to cache a registration page when it changes all the time?

Also, something that most people doesn't realize, caching will actually slow down your site if you don't know what you are doing. Generally people's perception about caching is that everything would be much faster and that is true IF and only IF you are caching the right things.

5. I updated to 1.2.7 and my photoalbums disappeared

I tried to login with the username / password that you have provided at http://stackideas.com/forums/can-t-login-with-facebook but it doesn't work for the admin account. This is what I see on the front end when I try to login http://screencast.com/t/xmbjPPemmk . I am not sure if I am using the correct login to test the albums but it's best that you provide us with the account that you are using that is facing the problems.

6. at 1.2.7 ver I see new option Maintenance and? when I click I see white page.

This has been fixed on your site as this is a known issue if you have used a beta / RC release prior to the stable 1.2 release.

Joomla has way more than 3 issues in the core as of right now, even in the latest version out there. On average there are hundreds of issues in Joomla which many get fixed with each new release.

Thanks for sharing Josh and yes I do agree that software is getting more and more agile and people are wanting to get updates more frequently regardless if there's a bug or not. There is no software in this world that is totally bug free

I can't register when I set recaptcha. Where is I need set two recaptha keys?

1. Go to backend -> EasySocial -> Applications -> Recaptcha to fill in the keys in order for recaptcha field to work.

2. Removed old beta files to ensure backend maintenance work.

3. Regarding the missing photos, it seems like the photos are not found anywhere in the /media/com_easysocial/photos/. Was there a recent server migration/file shift? I am not able to map/locate the original source of the photos.

4. This is because you've set the redirection incorrectly. Go to backend -> EasySocial -> Settings -> Users -> Logout redirection to set the page to redirect to.

5. I am not able to reproduce the error and I am able to post a status. Please clear your browser cache and give this a try again.

This is really strange. Changing the profile type will not remove any photos of the user. Also, i checked your server and for some reason the physical image file wasn't there. E.g.

Did you performed a site restoration? I cant think of any reason why the photos went missing.
Please advise.
