When I link my latest Easyblog posts into social media platforms such as linkedIn or Facebook, I dont see relevant images or descriptions within the social snippets.

I have attached an image I see from the Facebook Snippet Debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/

Please advise if there are settings I am missing or a plugin I should be downloading etc to have my articles showing correctly as snippets?

Warm Regards
David
Hello David.

After doing the global search, It seems like Facebook don't support GZIP compression. It is a is a Facebook issue, not a gzip issue.

Hope this help

hi david,

Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?

Hi David,

Can you try submit one of your blog URL in Facebook debugger tool? Because it should work fine now after disabled this Gzip Page Compression from your backend > system > global configuration > server

Hope this help.

Hi Arlex, thanks for the fast reply here.
I will give this a test in the morning.

Out of interest, is this the only way to fix the issue as the GZIP compression setting was deliberately turned on to speed my website loading times....

Thanks for the support here guys, even after it was a Joomla issue and nothing to do with you.
I have tested after disabling GZIP, you are right, it works fine now, social snippets are back in Facebook.

Such a pity as I need it to make my blog posts more attractive when sharing, but the slower page loading without GZIP turned on works against that.

Warm Regards
David

Hi guys, I know I marked this as closed, I just have a question as to why my latest post image might not be showing when linked on Facebook?
It shows correctly in LinkedIn and Google + now, just Facebook, the image snippet does not show, although the meta desc field is now visible...

Here is the post: http://www.myebook.co.za/top-10-south-african-afrikaans-authors-publishing-in-amazon
Here is the Facebook debugging tool: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/

The user account I recently created for you is still valid.
Thanks again for the help.

Hello David,

It might due to the Facebook caching the first image right after you link the url and it require some time for the image to actually appear. Nevertheless, glad that your issue has been resolved now.
