I am really having some issues with EasyBlog, and if I can get them fixed, I will be euphoric…
Here’s one issue. In Joomla, I have the syndication feed module so that it generates an RSS feed. I import that feed into EasyBlog, but it is not updating the posts, even though I can test the feed and it will bring in the amount of articles that I specify.

Secondly, whenever I autopost a particular RSS feed, it shows the image in the post for LinkedIn and Facebook. However, it does not show that image in Twitter.

Then if you go to the blog and share the post (in Facebook), it does not show the image.

All I want to do is be able to autopost my RSS feed, and then if the user shares the image, the main image shows up in the Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn post. It is critical that my post does this.

I am willing to pay you if you can figure out the posting issue so that the image comes up in all of my social media accounts.

But first thing first, I need EasyBlog to grab my RSS feed and insert it into my posts.

The RSS feed in question is the one at:

http://creativemapsolutions.com/rss-test?format=feed&type=rss

I have given you the credentials to my site in the past at http://www.creativemapsolutions.com/administrator/ with the login name of xxx and the pass of xxx****** If you do not have that information, please let me know.

Could you please check and see why my blogs aren’t posting from the aforementioned feed.

Also, if you could give me some insight on how to get the image from the RSS feed to show in all social media accounts, that would be great.

I really appreciate your help on this.
Hey scott,

I have a little bit lost here, do you mean that you have a Joomla RSS feed module then trying to import your Easyblog post (http://creativemapsolutions.com/rss-test?format=feed&type=rss )?

The rest image issue it should populate the image in your social media page, is it possible provide us with your following access?
#1. Joomla backend access (I've tried to access as you provided that login credential, but i hitting this "Login denied! ")
#2. FTP access
#3. Twitter access

By the way, please remember to assign your domain to your license to obtain for support in the future. You can do so by accessing your license area at http://stackideas.com/dashboard

Hello Arlex,

You should be able to log in using the back-end credentials that I gave you previously. For some reason, the "Easyblog" user was blocked. I changed that.

As far as the RSS feed goes, I have a syndication module in Joomla that pulls articles from a specific category (historic panoramic maps). What I did was dump in 1400 articles into that category, however, they all have different published dates. I did this so the RSS feed would pull in those articles, 2 per day. Then that feed is in the EasyBlog Feed Importer, so that it would post those articles into EasyBlog, and then automatically post to my social media accounts. You can see the RSS feed contents if you go to the menu "RSS Test". So long story short, I am not trying to pull in the EasyBlog entries into the RSS feed, rather, I am using the RSS feed to automatically generate blogs in EasyBlog because that is the only way that I know how to automatically post the content to my social media site.

I also registered my domain name through the dashboard.

Hello Arlex,

I created a video to help better explain what the issue is, rather than trying to communicate via written text. Please review the video here:

Regarding with your feed importer can't automatically import feed in your Easyblog issue, may i know do you have setup cronjob for this in your server yet? If no, is it possible provide us with your Cpanel access so we can help you configure with this.

Hello Arlex,

The reason the YouTube video may be blurry is because the HD option in the settings is not set correctly (see attached image), as I recorded the video in high definition.

The cron should be set-up properly because the cron job is being executed for other categories such as Esri GIS News:

http://www.creativemapsolutions.com/news/esri-gis-news

I supplied CPanel access in the "Optional Information" in the "Site Details" tab.

I also tested the share on the social media icons and you are correct, although the photo is not shown when you share it, it does put the photo in the proper social media posting. So i think we are good there.

However, I would like to know what the issue is with the cron job and why it will not work in the "Historic Panoramic Maps" category, but works for the other categories.

Thanks,

Scott

Hey Scott,

I am sorry that delay of this reply,

Yes, I already checked in your cron command, everything is correctly.

So I have reduce the cron time interval from 12hour to 5 minute and Specify the 3 minute interval to process this feed for testing this auto import feed issue. In the meanwhile, I noticed it imported other feed into this category `OpenGIS News`, so I quickly temporary disabled other feeds URL, only test for this "Historic Panoramic Maps".

After wait for 5 minute ago, it will automatically import this 2 post into this category `Historic Panoramic Maps`. It seems like working fine.

Hello Arlex,

I am not sure what is going on. My cron for EasyBlog usually processes at 12:00 PM. As you can see from my screenshot, I am getting e-mails every minute that the cron is processing, even though I have it set to process every 6 hours on my server. I also checked all of the "Feed imports" and changed them to 180 minutes. But obviously the cron is being processed still at every minute.

Arlex,

I need to take a look and test a couple of things tomorrow. There is no need for you to do anything right now, but I would like the ticket left open.

Thanks,

Scott

Arlex,

I will need you to take a look at this ASAP. Something is screwy. As I mentioned before, I set my cron job to process every 6 hours. So it ran again at 6:00 PM, and I am getting e-mails every minute that the cron is processing. This seems to stop after one hour of processing, but now I have 60 e-mails (processing from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Here is the e-mail message:

Hello Arlex,

The cron is not sending me an e-mail every minute, so that issue is resolved. However, i still need to do one more test to make sure that the articles from my panoramic maps are coming into EasyBlog through the feed.

More to follow...

Thanks,

Scott

Hello Arlex,

Thank you for testing the feed. The reason why the panoramic maps feed is not pulling any content is because I do not have any articles in that feed. I deleted the articles in that RSS category because I need to restructure the format of the html to pull in the download link to the image, which was not being shown previously. I am going to try to re-upload those articles this weekend to continue the testing.

Many thanks,

Scott

Hello Arlex,

So I went and changed the cron to 5 minutes through BlueHost and the interval in the Historic Panoramic Maps feed to 1 minute and I cannot get any of the contents of the feed to come into EasyBlog. Could you look at this when you get a chance? Is there a certain feed type that I should use that may help EasyBlog pull in the contents of the feed?

Many thanks,

Scott
