Hello,

I have a few questions about the social login.

Firstly, it doesn't seem to work, for some reason....it opens the app authorisation in a new window, redirects 'back to the application', and then my website remains crammed into the newly opened window. Trying to log in results in "you don't have an account yet". What might I have configured incorrectly?

On the other hand, I'm considering using Social Connect as the registration and login and logout action, as I can include Google and Linked in. This works really well, but crashes upon login due to 'too many redirects'. Is this because it is conflicting with Easysocial?

Any answers on either issue would be appreciated.

Thank you

Chris
Hello Chris,

Are you referring to the Facebook and Twitter social login in EasySocial? Have you already setup the necessary apps on both Twitter and Facebook yet? You could refer to the following guides on setting up those apps:

https://stackideas.com/docs/easysocial/administrators/social-integrations/facebook-app-configuration
https://stackideas.com/docs/easysocial/administrators/social-integrations/twitter-app-configuration

Once it is setup and configured, signing in with either Twitter or Facebook should be a breeze.

As for the social connect, I believe you are referring to JFBConnect eh? Perhaps you could try contacting Alex from SourceCoast. Their support is good too!

Hi there,

Yes, I've set up the apps and they are all sorted.......both Facebook and Twitter. The apps work fine with Social Connect and have worked with Easy social, until I upgraded. But now, it all seems to get stuck in the little pop up window, and doesn't actually register the new user. :/

The social connect is JoomlaWorks. But I think, yes, I would have to contact them. I just wondered if there would be a conflict with Easysocial if I was utilising other login functions.

I'll keep twiddling about...the easysocial login most definitely isn't working, but I would like to have the other logins from social connect anyway. I'll keep playing about.

Well, this is where I end up with Twitter Sign up and login...the user doesn't register or appear in the back end...and it all ends up a little squashed up and in a new window.

I don't know what to do with it, really.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the update. To investigate this issue, can you provide us your site's backend, ftp and Twitter access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site ? Thanks.

Hi, sorry I haven't replied for so long.

I've now uninstalled social connect as I was getting too many redirects on registration. The ES registration form now works, but Twitter still has the above problem and facebook is saying the url is blocked, but I have followed the documentation to the letter.

If you could help, it would be much appreciated.

I've sent you the site details from the link you posted above.

Thanks!

Sorry, a little more information.

The Facebook URL is now not blocked (was my silly error), but it seems to do the same as Twitter, as the screenshot above shows.

Hey Chris,
The reason why your social registration keeps redirecting users to the login page is because the 'community' menu item access is set to registered users only. Since the registration process takes place in EasySocial, which is the 'community' menu item, it has to be set to 'Public' so that guest users can access the registration parts of EasySocial.
I have helped you do this so the social registration should work properly now(http://take.ms/AoQy7).
Give it a try and let us know how it goes, thanks.
