Sign in with Facebook - Username

Hi, I activated "Sign in with Facebook" and first Trial I set it to use e-mail as username. This did not work as the e-mail is appearing on the profile as the name of the user. I then switched to use the Fullname as a username. This was creating long usernames as it is not an ideal choice. However, it will be a great option if we allow users coming in from facebook enter and validate their prefered permalink name and next to it have a button to update their username with the Permalink name.
Hm, does your user fill in their name during registration? Can you please provide us with the access to the site so that we can review your setup

Hey Alex,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. If you enable to use e-mail as username, then EasySocial would then only display the e-mail field during their sign up. However, what you can do, is to configure EasySocial to use the real name as the display name rather than displaying their e-mail. This can be configured under Settings > Users > Layout as you can see here, http://take.ms/Hq5Ae

Hi Mark, I am aware of setting up to use the Real Name as I stated in my question. The issue also with using a Real Name is that users with long name will be very inconvenient to type their entire full name as a user. As an example my name like "Alex Khatchadourian". So what I am suggesting is have the users fill in the "permalink" field and validate it and if you could have a button next to it to use their PermaLink name as their Username. This way they pick a unique short name validated by permalink and won't have any issue to use it as a username.

Hey Alex,

The display name option does not require the user to use their real name to login. This settings is primarily only for display purposes only. This way, you can still enable "login with email" but when EasySocial displays their profile, it picks the real name instead.

Hi, I tested one with e-mail and it locked the username with the e-mail account however the display was also the e-mail account. Which one is the best or suggested method?

Hey Alex,

Did you configure EasySocial so that it uses real name for display yet? The settings are located in http://take.ms/Hq5Ae . When you configure it to use Real name, their real name would be displayed on the profile.
