Is there a single Sidebar Top Module Position that is consistent throughout all of EasySocial? We are trying to assign a module and have replicated it at least a dozen times to be in this position for every view that is offered only to realize that this doesn't work in most App Widget views.

Please offer some advice so we can maintain a consistent workflow.
Hey there,

May I know which sidebar are you referring in EasySocial?

It would be the best that you can provide us some screenshots to show us which position you want the sidebar to be at.

Irwin, all of the main objects in easysocial have embedded module positions: https://stackideas.com/docs/easysocial/administrators/module-positions we have assigned a specific module to every module position in the sidebar-top positions.

Hey there,

Do you mean that you want your specific module's position to be at the top of the sidebar for every EasySocial's pages? (Kindly refer the screenshots)

If yes, it is impossible to achieve at this point of time. In order to do that, it involves many files to customize.

Please make an effort to standardize this in 3.0, this makes things very inconsistent where we have to be dependent on both Joomla Template and ES module positions.

Hey there,

Thanks for your suggestion.

Perhaps it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this suggestion by creating a new ticket on the forums and set it to "Feature Request" here. We will prioritize this feature during the development process for the next major version of EasySocial if there are more people request on this.

I don't think this is a feature request, this seems to me like incomplete work?

Hey James,

If you referring this area module position https://stackideas.com/forums/sidebar-top-module-positions#reply-431941 , this is actually intended behaviour to show different custom module position in Easysocial different pages, you can take a look of my attached screenshot below.

For example :
User listing page - es-users-sidebar-top
Event listing page - es-events-sidebar-top
Group listing page - es-groups-sidebar-top
User dashboard page - es-dashboard-sidebar-top

By the way, unfortunately that is no easier way to achieve this and so far there is not much user request for to add this in Easysocial.

If you really want to achieve this to show 1 module at the sidebar top area on all the Easysocial pages into your current site, you can require us to perform the customization for you, you can request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

Thanks @Arlex but I can perform the customization myself.

This is what I was referring to in my comment regarding 3.0. The thought of 3.0 is great, seeing a new layout is great, a few new features are great but things like this that seem incomplete would be nice to be seemless throughout the entire system. Here's the thing about customizations, overrides/hacks, they suck. They suck because every major version change there seems to come serious template changes which then mean our overrides don't work and we have to keep repeating this cycle.

In some cases not having a sidebar position makes perfect sense and requires an override such as with conversations, there is no need right. But the Event Page and all of it's widget views, this makes sense... You land on the Timeline and the position is there. You click on About, it's gone, Attendees, it's gone, etc... they are all gone. There is in fact a sidebar but no position, or atleast no document outlining the available positions.

I want a seemless program that is bug free, we are still identifying bugs ( this is expected, I am just saying ) .

Hi James,

Perhaps it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this issues by creating a new ticket on the forums and set it to "Feature Request" so that everyone else could vote for it. And let others know about this feature are see if it is possible to be implemented or not.

Thanks for your understanding James.
