In your features of EasyDiscuss, you say there is a free module to display discussions on a map. However I dont see this module in your official module package for easydiscuss. The only thing I can find is this thread: http://stackideas.com/forums/show-all-location-tagged-discussions-in-a-map with a link to download a module that doesn't seem to be supported by you.

Am I missing something, or is this "feature" a module that was created by a 3rd party who no longer supports it?
Hello Marco,

Sorry but not too sure where are you quoting from in the features page about this feature. Can you please advise? We currently do not have such a module actually.

Okay, go to this page: http://stackideas.com/easydiscuss and select the "integrations" tab, and then look for the text on "discussion maps":

This integration shows the discussions on the world map with Google Map. This free module tags the origin of a discussion to a specific location with a direct link on the map.

Ah, I think there's some confusions there because that "Integrations" tab simply means that it is integrated with that 3rd party module Similar like Payplans and the rest.

I believe the owner has already discontinued it but you can try asking it here, http://stackideas.com/forums/show-all-location-tagged-discussions-in-a-map

Yah, that's exactly my point. In your product features, you reference a "free" 3rd party integration that does not exist (or is no longer supported and likely to not work anymore). That's a bit off, to promote a feature that doesn't really exist or will end up causing problems for users who attempt to integrate it.

Maybe it still works, I have not tried it. Even if it does, I dont think it's in anyone's interest to promote integrations that are not supported, particularly if its some pkg that some guy posted in one of your forums. At the very least, that's really "un-stackideas" like, in that everything you guys have is top-notch.

Hi, I'm the 'some guy' who created Map for EasyDiscuss module. As I explain in http://stackideas.com/forums/show-all-location-tagged-discussions-in-a-map, after create the module I didn't get some feedback from users so I decided to deactivate the domain and website I made.

The module itself still exists and it works and it's free and it's available and it's downloadable and it's documented... What do you need more than all that?

Thanks for updating I will discuss this with the marketing guys and see if there is a need to take it off from our feature page but as the creator posted above, the module is still available

All I'm saying is that you guys have some really nice, clean, professional and well supported products, and as far as I can tell every OTHER 3rd party integration you promote is a well-established service (Google, Facebook, twitter, PayPlans, MailChimp, etc) or a very long-standing Joomla developer (Joomlart, Akeeba, Alpha User Points, JoomlaXTC, etc).

I may or may not like some of those 3rd party products/services, but I know that I can for the most part trust that they will work. So the fact that you have one module that's not even in the JED is a huge red flag for anyone who wants to use your stuff in a professional site. At least with the code you manage or other Joomla developers manage, there's a good chance that any upgrades, bugs or security vulnerabilities will be dealt with.

@Pararrayos, it's a great module. Or at least a great concept, like I said I dont use unsupported stuff. The whole point of this note was to say that this "free integration" was a huge selling feature for me. I love the idea of visualizing where discussions originate. The fact that it is an unsupported module was not just disappointing and I think a bit misleading when put into context of the kinds of 3rd party integrations that stackideas offers.

@Mark this isn't a complaint, just pointing out a fairly minor inconsistency in your marketing. You guys seem really detail oriented so I thought you might appreciate it.

Hello Marco,

Thanks for the insights on this Marco, the problem here is that we want to let people know that there are available stuffs that could be integrated with EasyDiscuss. Whether or not they want to use it, it's really entirely up to them. I believe some users might love to see such available modules.

I will definitely bring this up with the team and perhaps we could discuss with the owner of the module and see if he could support it or perhaps anything that we can do to help him out.
