Hi,
I updated Easyblog to the newest version on one of my sites. It's rather a lot of work to get everything looking like it did, due to all the changes!
There is one problem I cannot fix. Perhaps I just cannot find the right setting. Hope you can help.
I would like the comments to show underneath an entry (not in the category view, but in the entry-view). I want members to be able to leave a comment, and non-members to be able to register. And I want the comments to be visible for both members and non-members.
I hope you can help! I know it's weekend, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my weekend too!

Best
Ineke
Hi Giora,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. I've checked your site and it seems like you have disabled comment for public user from your backend > easyblog > ACL > public, http://screencast.com/t/ML3aaYA6XQWb . I've enabled it for you and the comment form is showing now for public user.

Hi Ineke,

I'm not sure to understand your question? Is the comment form visible now, but not where you'd like it to be? Or is it visible but you want to disable it on the category view? Are you using the built-in comment system (or another one like Komento)?

Here a few setting you can check:

- In Easyblog / Setting / Comment: Make sure the options are:

"Enable comment" - Yes
"Allow Guests To Post Comment" - No
"Allow Guests To View Comments" Yes
"Allow Registration When Posting Comments" Yes

See screenshot "Comment1".

- Also, Easyblog / Setting / layout in the tab "Posts Options", make sure the "Show Comment Form" is enable. See screenshot "comment2".

- About the comment showing in category view, you can disable also disable it in the menu item under the tab "Comments". see screenshot "comment3".

Hope this help!

Hi Aikigi,
Thank for your reply. All the settings are as they should be. The problem is that comments and also the comment form are not showing at all.

Hi Ineke,

Humm! I'm sorry for that. Did you look into Setting / Comment / integration to make sure that the Easyblog built-in commenting system set as default?

If this is good then it may be a bug and you will have to wait for a Stackideas team support to help you.

Hi Aikigi,
Thank you, that partly solved the problem! I didn't know about that setting. Comments are showing now, but not the form.

Hi Ineke,

It is difficult for me to help you more without seeing your site and configuration... Are you using the built-in commenting system or something else?

Can you also check the setting in the Categories setting? When you create/edit categories, you can override some of the post settings... Just look at it to make sure the "Show Comment Form" setting is good.

Hi Aikigi,
I understand. The settings are correct. Even when I set "allow guests to leave a comment" the form does not show.
I'll have to wait for the staff then to hopefully help me out. Thank you for your help!

Hi Ineke,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've configured public user to be able to leave a comment and register during the comment from both ACL settings and comment settings from your backend, http://screencast.com/t/YMonvf1Fp5Kz . Hope these help.

Hi Ezrul,
Thank you for your reply. It's not exactly what I'm looking for.
What I would like:
- comments visible for everyone
- only registered members may leave a comment
- for guest I want a message that they need to register
So I would like a message showing "You need to login or register to leave a comment" or something like that, so that members can login and guests can register.
I hope you can help!

Hi Ineke,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding earlier. In order to achieve that you need to apply some hack for it. You can download my attachment below and place it inside your /components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/comments/ folder and see how it goes. Remember to turn off "Allow Guests To Post Comment" from your backend > easyblog > settings > comments in order for this to work.

Hi Ezrul,
Thank you!
I'll just put this in my override folder. I tried it locally and that seems to work.
Thank you for your help!
Best,
Ineke

Hi Giora,
Part of the solution for me was to check that in Setting / Comment / integration the Easyblog built-in commenting system set as default, as Aikigi suggested.
And perhaps you have any old overrides that are interfering?
Good luck!

For me it helped to set "built in comments" to Yes.
Hope that does the trick for you too!

Did you check Easyblog / Settings / layout in the tab "Posts Options"? Is "Show Comment Form" enabled?
No template overrides?
If none of this helps, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the support team to reply.
Best of luck!

You're welcome! There is also a "show comment form" in categories / post options. I'm not sure if that would overwrite settings/layout, but it's worth a (last ) try.
