In Dashboard view there is a Groups section. I have set it to show 3 groups in Theme settings.

1. I hope the group section is showing the 3 most recent created groups? (Could not find a setting for this, but recent is what I want)

2. Theres a link below that says "Show more groups". When clicking this it just expands and show more groups in same (little) section. I would like this link to go to same page as My account > Groups, showing all groups.

3. When choosing Account > Group, all groups are shown and I also got a "Create group" button. Great! But the search do not work on this page? Is it not possible to search groups/group names???

Same with event section on Dashboard view. I would like exactly same navigation for events (and a search for events that work)
Ahhh, great! Thanks Mark!

I unpublished "Smart Search - EasySocial Photos", "Smart Search - EasySocial Albums", "Content - Smart Search", "Smart Search - Content" and "Smart Search - EasyBlog Posts".

Then I deleted the Components -> Smart Search index, and re-indexed. And now no image files or Joomla articles or blog posts pops up as results for EasySocial search.

Best thing is that my global Joomla search uses the "Search - Content/Blogs/et." plugins, so the unpublishing above does not affect the global search on my site. Great!

PS: I have no idea about the difference between Smart Search and Search, and why my Joomla search is using other than EasySocial search...

Hey Torgrim,

Please find the response to your inquiries below:

1. I hope the group section is showing the 3 most recent created groups? (Could not find a setting for this, but recent is what I want)

I am not sure what do you mean here but in the settings, it allows you to configure the total number of groups to appear on the dashboard's sidebar.

2. Theres a link below that says "Show more groups". When clicking this it just expands and show more groups in same (little) section. I would like this link to go to same page as My account > Groups, showing all groups.

If you want to alter the behavior, edit the file/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/dashboard/sidebar.groups.php and locate the codes below:

<a href="javascript:void(0);" class="filter-more" data-groups-filters-showall><?php echo JText::_( 'COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_SHOW_MORE_GROUPS' ); ?></a>

Replace it with,

<a href="<?php echo FRoute::groups(array('filter' => 'mine'));?>" class="filter-more" data-groups-filters-showall><?php echo JText::_( 'COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_SHOW_MORE_GROUPS' ); ?></a>

3. When choosing Account > Group, all groups are shown and I also got a "Create group" button. Great! But the search do not work on this page? Is it not possible to search groups/group names???

Same with event section on Dashboard view. I would like exactly same navigation for events (and a search for events that work)

Sorry but I really have no idea what do you mean here. Do you mean you are trying to search using the toolbar to search for groups? Can you please ensure that the "Finder - EasySocial Groups" plugin is enabled?

By the way, may I suggest that you only have 1 question for each of your post as this would make it much easier for you and us to track back on your questions.

"I am not sure what do you mean here but in the settings, it allows you to configure the total number of groups to appear on the dashboard's sidebar. "

I mean there is no setting for oldest, newest, by title, or anything. So I hope it is set as recent/newest. I think it is. (I do not want to show just any 3 groups in this section, I want to show the 3 latest created groups. Same with Event section).

2.
Great, thank you very much for this answer!

3.
Yes, I mean that I choose Account > Groups. And when I search here (for a group that exist), I get no results (even though I can see the group below).

Smart Search - EasySocial Groups/Events are enabled on my site.

I discovered now that the search actually work if I choose Danish language, but not for Swedish and Norwegian. My site is multilanguage (Norway, Sweden and Denmark), and Danish is the default language set in Extensions > Language Manager.
This must be a bug. Search only works for default language. I will try to research this.
(My global site search works for all languages, for Joomla articles, JReviews items and EasyBlog posts, but not for EasySocial items which is ok/like I want it - if the integrated EasySocial search had been working...).

Yes, unfortunately we do not have the filter setting for oldest, newest, by title or something else at this point of time, but by default it will show the most latest group on your dashboard.

May i know which page still showing over 5 group on your group widget?

If you are referring on the user profile page,
________
|| Group ||
---------------

you can configure show how many group widget from your backend > Easysocial > application > find `user - group` > click widget tab > display group - 3 (check my screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/IMoszQf9ALpC )

________
|| Event ||
---------------

You can configure this from your backend > Easysocial > application > find `User — Events ` > click widget tab > total profile events - 3
Hope this help.

Can i have your Joomla backend and FTP access so I can check on this search issues?
And provide us which group you trying to search?
*You can put the information in the optional information field below(SITE DETAILS). Don't worry about privacy. Only Support team can view the information.

Looking forward of your response.

Thank you for your answer Arlex.

Hope you can fix the search on our multilanguage site. I have included login/ftp details below.

Frontend test:
Login as support user, go to your profile and choose eg. Account > Groups, to list all groups. Search for "Fetsund" which is clearly there. When chosen the Norwegian or Swedish flag, no search results, when chosen the Danish flag, works...

Hi Torgrim Sandvoll,

I am really sorry for the late reply.

I have applied some fix in your site at this files:
1. /plugins/finder/easysocialalbums/easysocialalbums.php
2. /plugins/finder/easysocialevents/easysocialevents.php
3. /plugins/finder/easysocialgroups/easysocialgroups.php
4. /plugins/finder/easysocialphotos/easysocialphotos.php
5. /plugins/finder/easysocialusers/easysocialusers.php

Actually this is not a bug because EasySocial uses com_finder which in this case, it respect the language of the current user. When the user create a group for example in Danish language, the particular group will be stored in com_finder associated with Danish language as well.

So, I believe this is a default behaviour for EasySocial search which it should respect the language of the current user and only displays content in this user's language.

As for reminder, this fixes will not be included yet in the next releases and you need to do backup first before updating EasySocial. This fixes will get overridden by the update.

Hope this explained well and have a nice day.

Thank you very much for this fix Mohdyasseribz!

1. EasySocial search
The search now works, but it searches whole site, not just groups (when in Groups), events (when in Events), photos (when in Photos), or users (when in Users). Can this be fixed as well? When in EasySocial: Groups I would like to search for EasySocial groups, not whole site.

2. Multilanguage site
Yes, I now see this dilemma. But if I wanted a community site where Danish people would be able to search and interact with only Danish content/members, I would make a separate Danish site, not a multilanguage site.

But yes, this is a dilemma...

My multilanguage site is set up with global site search (top-right) that searches all EasyBlog posts, JReviews database items (= Joomla articles with language = All), and depending on the current URL (http://www.site.com/dk/, /no/ or /sv/), it searches only dk (danish), no (norwegian) or sv (swedish) Joomla articles. This is perfect!

The global site search does not get results from EasyDiscuss or EasySocial, it only gets results from Joomla articles (same language as URL), JReviews database (language = All), and EasyBlog (All).

Again, this is perfect, as I want my users to access EasyDiscuss or EasySocial to search for EasyDiscuss or EasySocial specific items.
But when in EasyDiscuss I want my users to be able to search EasyDiscuss items only. Same with EasySocial.

Basically I want EasySocial search to work like Facebook search. When I login to Facebook and search (Dashboard) it searches all members, events and groups from all over the world. When I enter Facebook groups, it searches groups only, but from all over the world. And when I search in Facebook I only get results from Facebook, not from Wikipedia etc. If I wanted results from other I would use Google or Bing instead.

Hope this helps clarify this dilemma.

PS:
There is a problem with EasySocial registration. Wherby users select Country in Address field. This is not mapped to Joomla user Frontend language selection for this users. This is not a problem for my site (URL decides frontend language for my site), but could be a problem for other users.

Hey Torgrim,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply as we might have missed your reply. Unfortunately it is not possible to restrict / localize the search based on which section you are viewing right now. When searching, it utilizes the Smart Search in Joomla and it returns a list of items it found on the site.

Ouch, sorry to hear that.
What is your thinking behind this choice? How can I set up my site for users to be able to search for groups - and groups only, members and events?

But both EasyDiscuss and EasySocial have a problem/UIX error. When I navigate to a category in EasyDiscuss, and do a search. The results do not filter to the Category I am searching. Same with EasySocial, when I am in Groups, I would like to get search results from groups only. But of course EasySocial have a bigger problem with search, since I get results from Joomla articles, and all other stuff on my site as well...

I do not understand your choice for EasySocial search... EasyDiscuss works like intended. When doing a search in EasyDiscuss, I only get results from EasyDiscuss at least (even though the category search do not work).

I think there must be a bug with the update you did on my files, since EasySocial search give results from whole site (also Joomla articles, JReviews items, etc.). Can you please fix this first (and then in a later version, please fix it so we can search groups, events and members only).

I think that before you did the multilanguage update on my files, when I did a EasySocial search I only got results from EasySocial.

Hey Torgrim,

It's not possible right now to separate the search as it is a "unified / global" search. This was actually one of the most requested features by our customers and if you want to search by users, you could use the advanced search which is explicitly for searching users.

Was a unified/global search actually one of the most requested features for EasySocial??? That is hard for me to believe, when we all know that Joomla already has a global search built in. And many specialised search extenstions can be added to this.

So you are telling me that earlier versions of EasySocial actually had a local search? Sorry, but ... how stupid is that? Why on earth would I do a search in EasySocial - for something that is not in EasySocial? (Joomla articles, K2 items, JReview items, etc.). Its like having a knowledge base, but the search is Google's and searches the whole site/world wide web...

Sorry, but this is very disapointing. Global search, and no way to search for groups and events only. You really have missed the importance of search.

PS: Same goes for EasyDiscuss search. Where you at least have local search, but where you can not search per category.

When I do a search in EasySocial, image and document files pop up as results. Is there a way to hide/stop EasySocial search from indexing .gif, .jpg, .pdf, .doc, etc. files? I want only results from users groups and events I guess. (Please have a look at Facebook search, and try to copy them)

Hey Torgrim,

Yes, the unified search results was one of the most requested feature in EasySocial 1.0. Well, it does make sense for these owners considering that the built in Smart search isn't as friendly enough. Perhaps they prefer a unified search on the toolbar similar to what Facebook offers? I really don't know but this was in fact one of the features requested.

Since the search in EasySocial relies on the finder plugins. You can turn off the plugins accordingly if you do not want them to appear on the search suggestions in the toolbar

Are you saying I can control the EasySocial search? How? I do not want to "hurt" my Joomla global search though, as it is working perfectly.

As it is now the search is next to useless. When I try to search for eg. my name it gives me every image I have uploaded + every item I have created in Joomla (even though my name is not in item content), and lastly my user account as result. Just think of it when/if I have been uploading 100s of images. Not to mention group or event search, and using name of location/city.

Hope you can help. Are there any extensions I can buy to control the EasySocial search? I understand now that I can not have group or event specific search feature in EasySocial, but I want it to at least to not give images and uploaded files as results. Just think of it when users have uploaded 1000s of images and files on my site...

Hey Torgrim,

The only way to control this is to unpublish / publish the finder plugins for EasySocial.

Thanks for updating Torgrim, glad that your issues are resolved now. Smart Search and Search is 2 different extension altogether and it is included with Joomla by default
