May I know what version of easydiscuss you are using previously? To be honest some of the easydiscuss database structure might have changed in between your older version with the latest version of easydiscuss. What I can suggest you is to take a whole copy of your live site including whole database into your localhost and then update your joomla and easydiscuss from there.
