Please can you provide instructions for how to set up email notifications for moderators. I have provided an email address in categories/general/notifications.

If I set 'email on page load' in general/maintenance the user gets 'Could not instantiate mail function.' when submitting a post.

I'd be happy to create a cronjob to email moderators with notifications but I don't know what command to use (I'm very new to this).

Thanks, Kerstyn
Hey Kerstyn,

The error message that you are getting is could most likely be caused by the following:

1. Incorrect email settings in your Joomla Global Configuration area.

2. Incorrect recipient email address (Check if the user has the correct email address and the address is valid)

As for the cronjob, you need to actually contact your web host for the absolute path to wget. Once you have the absolute path to "wget", then you need to follow the instructions outlined at http://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/cronjobs/setting-up-cronjobs-in-cpanel

"wget" is like a .exe application on windows machine but it's for linux machines.

Thanks for such a quick reply at such a crazy hour of the night. I've found that the problem with my email was the lack of a php.ini file in the root directory. The Joomla forum has more details in case other users are struggling.
