Hi,
I have installed EasyBlog pro and I am a bit overwhelmed with the array of settings and wondered if anyone can help me.

Firstly - my blog is set up more as a 'News Board' for posting school news - I don't want input or comments from readers. The only people I want to be able to create a post are a few (four) people.
I want readers to be able to subscribe to the News Board so they get emails when there is a new post (regardless of category) - and also to register at the same time with the site if they wish (I have set this up okay I think).

- I want a person to be able subscribe to the news board and Joomla site - but not be added to the bloggers list.

Is this possible ?

Thank you

Adrian

Hello Adrian Gorman,

Please find the answers to your queries below.
#1 - Firstly - my blog is set up more as a 'News Board' for posting school news - I don't want input or comments from readers.
>> You can configure the setting for disallow the guest user add the comment in your post from your backend > Easyblog > ACL > Guest > Post Comment - NO

#2- I want a person to be able subscribe to the news board and Joomla site - but not be added to the bloggers list.
Yes, that was possible to do that, the guest user just only click the subscription button then okay already, check my screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/hLG0Renwm
But i noticed you have enabled the setting for let user registered a user through in subscription, don't worry of that, you can disable it from your backend > easyblog > Setting > Workflow > Subscription > Allow registrations during subscription - NO http://screencast.com/t/JSl2Ikhh2sTw
Hope this help.

Thank you Arlex for you fast response.

If I am correct in my understanding, I have now set the subscribe on the main page for just the blog not the site as in your screen shots.

If someone registers as a subscriber (via the news board page), they will go onto the 'subscribers' list but will not be registered as website users. ?
If someone registers as a website user - they will automatically be added to news board 'bloggers' list but not the 'subscribers' list. ?
When a new post is added both subscribers list and bloggers list will receive email notification. ?

Can I make it so only selected bloggers can post an article ?

Thank you again

Hello Adrian,

If someone registers as a subscriber (via the news board page), they will go onto the 'subscribers' list but will not be registered as website users. ?
>> that user should have both identity registered user and subscriber.

If someone registers as a website user - they will automatically be added to news board 'bloggers' list but not the 'subscribers' list. ?
>> Yes, because the easyblog user is under Joomla register user, except the user to be the subscriber.

When a new post is added both subscribers list and bloggers list will receive email notification. ?
>> Yes, they will receive the email notification. You also can configure which email notification shouldn't be send out to user from Easyblog > setting > Notification > Blogs

Can I make it so only selected bloggers can post an article ?
>> You have to set it from the ACL -> user group, example : registered user group <- disallow to publish blog post

Hope this help.
