Hello,
Our homepage has 7 different language. One category of easyblog is only in english but will be shown in all languages on our homepage. Now we have the problem, that Google indicates duplicate content. We had the idea, only link with the english menu to easyblog, copy the link and put it in our other language menus.
But the module easybloglatestblogs on frontpage doesn't link to the english version. You can see it here at the bottom of our german version: https://www.storzmedical.com/de/https://www.storzmedical.com/de/
Can you help us with this problem or do you have a better idea to avoid the duplicate content problem?
Thank you,
Oliver
Hi Oliver,

It is possible to provide us with the google error that have detected the duplicate content?

Hi Oliver,

I've consult this with our developers, it might be bug on our end. I've created a ticket for that so our developers will take an action for this.

Hi Mark,
Any news about the language version problem?
Is it not possible to change the language code in all links of the easybloglatestblogs module to .../en/ ... instead de/it/fr/es/ru?

Hey Oliver,

From the looks of it, the bug fix is already applied in 5.1.15. Have you already updated to 5.1.15 yet?

Hey Oliver,

May i know what is the reason why you disable this menu item? screenshot : http://take.ms/HbnUN

The reason why i asked this is because when i access this German page https://www.storzmedical.com/de/ then click on that blog URL, it always keep redirect back to the homepage, because system unable to route to the correct Easyblog page once you disable that German Easyblog single category menu.

Is it possible attach again those duplicate content URL like what you attached in previously, so I can ensure that which URL still treat it as duplicate content, we might missed up something not cater this properly.

Hi Arlex, the problem is, that we have only english articles in this blog category. As example, on english language Version of homepage the link to the blog article is:

https://www.storzmedical.com/disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html

But if I are on the german language version of homepage, the link to the article is:

https://www.storzmedical.com/de/disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html

and on other language version with it/fr/es/ru ...
Google see now the same one article under 6 different addresses.

Now I would like change the german menu item with the address of the english menu item to the blog (in other languages too).
But then, you have seen it, the module link doesn't work. Because, there was the language code (de) in the link. I hope, there is a possibility to eleminate the language code in the link address. If I delete the "/de" manually, I can Access the blog on english version of Homepage.

Best regards
Oliver

Hey Oliver,

the problem is, that we have only english articles in this blog category. As example, on english language Version of homepage the link to the blog article is:

https://www.storzmedical.com/disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html

But if I are on the german language version of homepage, the link to the article is:

https://www.storzmedical.com/de/disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html

and on other language version with it/fr/es/ru ...
Google see now the same one article under 6 different addresses.

Regarding this case, our developer already applied some fix to cater this in the latest version, so that when the user view on it/fr/es/ru language page, that canonical link will show this URL /disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html without the language code.

When the Google indexed your page, Google will know these all different language blog page is actually viewing on this page -> https://www.storzmedical.com/disciplines/urology/lithotripsy-database-blog/database/entry/lojanapiwat-b-et-al-2011-alkaline-citrate-reduces-stone-recurrence-and-regrowth-after-shockwave-lithotripsy-and-percutaneous-nephrolithotomy.html , so it will not treat these it/fr/es/ru language page as duplicate content.

Since Google already indexed your page in previously, perhaps you can try clear those indexed data from Google and see is it still hitting that duplicate content?

Before i replied you I did applied some temporary fix into this file /public_html/components/com_easyblog/views/views.php, because i realised those other language page canonical link still showing language code which is not correct.

And I also help you enabled this menu temporary (screenshot : http://take.ms/D7WVW ), because if you disable it, that routing system unable to find the correct Easyblog menu item which can able to accessible in German language page.
