I am using the SEO tool, SEMrush, which completes a site audit for lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com.

I have attached screenshots where it is indicating that the following pages are showing duplicate meta descriptions, titles, and content:

https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories?start=0
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/blog?start=0
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/blog

I only have menu items for /categories and /blog. I'm not sure how or why it's reading the pages with the start=0. Because they don't have a menu item associated with them, I can't change their meta descriptions or titles.

Is there a setting in EasyBlog configuration which will correct this, or do I need to create some type of menu item?

Thanks,
Mike
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Can you update your this domain site lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com following site details so we can better have a check? Because I was unable to access your site backend, it keep redirect back to the homepage.

- Your site backend URL
- backend login access
- FTP access

And I suspect this canonical tag is not render from Easyblog, it might be one of the 3rd party plugin render it, because it should show the canonical link for the category listing page which is https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories instead of https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories?start=0 from what I tested in my locally, it did show correctly.

The canonical tag is a way of telling search engines that a specific URL represents the master copy of a page, since this following pages actually is render the same content, so we did add a checking if someone trying to access this page https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories?start=0 , it will render that canonical link for the master page which is
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories.

Hi Arlex,

So I was using a third party canonical extension, and switched to sh404sef and still finding that weird link. Can you check to see what I might be doing wrong? Is there a redirect I need to set up in Joomla or sh404sef? I will update my site details in the tab.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holiday for us here.

It seems like I found the issue now, by right it should show ?start=0 if the current page is pagination one.

Can you try download my attached file and replace into this file location first
JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/pagination/pagination.php

then clear your Sh404sef all the SEF link from backend and access your site hompage, so it will regenerate those new SEF link again in Sh404sef extension.

After that try check on your SEO 3rd party tool and see whether still report these following link again?

https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories?start=0
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/categories
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/blog?start=0
https://lawenforcementsocialmediatraining.com/blog

Arlex,

It looks like it is fixed. Thank you sir!

Also, I asked Sylvie about contacting you regarding my renewal. Can you follow up with her?

Thanks!

Arlex - will I need to do that for all of my similar counts, in terms of changing out that file? Or is it something you'll be rolling out in an update? What exactly did you do?
