SectionEx problems after upgrading to Joomla 3.9

After updating to Joomla 3.9 the sectionex plugin seems to be broken. Is there an updated version that works with 3.9.1? I'd gladly pay for it but it appears that it hasn't been updated in several years...

When visiting the sectionex page I get this error:

0 Using $this when not in object context
Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm really sorry to inform you that we have already discontinued Section Ex for quite some time now, mainly due to the lack on interest over the years, therefore we have cease to further develop Section Ex.

Not sure I can put this extension to github, so attaching the patch that makes the sectionEx working with joomla 3.9.2 here, in case anybody has an interest.

I can put this extension to my github account and take care of it, because I have couple of personal sites that depends to this extension.

But I respect author efforts and need explicit author permission to do it.

I have an updated and debugged version of SectionEx which works perfectly on J3.10 (my version 3.10.4)
A J4+ version is now available which works on Joomla 4.4+ including 5.2+
