It looks like this is a Joomla bug when the homepage is set to Chinese or similar language as the issue is coming from Smart Search component itself.

I already tested locally and the same happens to Joomla articles.

You can test it in the dedicated smart search component page: .../index.php?option=com_finder

That is the only workaround that we can suggest.

There is not much else we can do for a Joomla related issue except to wait for Joomla to fix this.

Perhaps you can post this issue in Joomla's forums?

My colleague did consult with me regarding this issue, based on what i check, it seems like even Joomla smart search plugin also unable to search these kind of Chinese character title.

You can check my attached screenshot below, this is what i found out it seems like Joomla did do some normalise that search keyword, if the site language is Chinese, then it will go inside that checking.

JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_finder/helpers/indexer/helper.php

You can try follow my attached screenshot below to comment out these line of code and see how it goes.

By the way, my colleague did share to me, it seems like he found out something related this issue from some of the resources, that articles did mentioned Joomla have planning to improve their smart search engine especially when the user trying to search those Chinese character.
