It appears that there is a fatal error in the joomla smart search plugin that is causing the issue in your easy social search shown here in this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/J3RMLsPV . Upon further investigation on the issue, we have found that it is a known issue in the previous joomla version especially in joomla version 2.5 and below. Perhaps you may upgrade to the latest joomla version or contact the joomla developer forum for further assistance.

Thank you for investigating this. Is there no other option but to upgrade Joomla? The search function was working fine in Joomla 2.5 until yesterday.

There is other option besides upgrading to the latest joomla, perhaps you may go to the joomla developer forum http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=509 and seek further assistance because this issue is already addressed in the latest version of joomla, perhaps you may get the patch from there.
