Now that we have several blog entries posted, we decided to test the search function. Knowing that there are several posts with "essence report" that is relevant, we searched for both essence report and "essence report." Without quotes, 22 entries came up. With quotes, 2 came up. Both sets of results are impractical. Without quotes searches for both words, and with quotes it isn't giving accurate results (there are more than 2 blog entries with that phrase.)

What can I do to improve the search function, or replace it?
Hello Troy,

The "search" in EasyBlog uses (Natural Language) full text searches in MySQL and MySQL actually has it's own dictionary on how it searches. You could use keywords like (+) , just like how you would search in Google

@Mark, so why would we be getting back such inaccurate search results? Is there something I should fix or check?

Hello Troy,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Does the blog title or content contains any "essence report" text? If it does, it should return the result. If it does not have those text in it, it wouldn't show up

@Mark, yes, there are results being left out that include "essence report." For some reason when using essence report, it will find "essence" "report" and "essence report" but no one wants to sift through all of that, so searching for "essence report" should be the solution. But when you do that, it only returns two results, when there are many more than two.

Hello Troy,

Try searching without the quotes and just essence report.

Mark, I did that. The screencast above demonstrates the problem we are having.
"essence report" returns 2 results vs essence report returning 22. There are fewer than 22 "essence report" phrases, but way more than 2,

Do you see what I mean?

Hello Troy,

Sorry but I really don't have any idea what you are referring to here. Since you have added the quotes in your search, the search is matching the exact terms of "essence report". When you type in just essence report without the quotes, it's searching by words.
