Hi, EasySocial team + community -

I'm playing with ES2, eager to migrate over from JomSocial! Before I can do so, there are a few hurdles I have to solve. One is, is there any way to create a search page or module for just one profile type, which would only show that profile type's custom fields? For my community's purposes, I have about 30 custom fields and the Advanced Search form will be way too confusing for my users. However, simply searching keyword or name (as with the simple search) doesn't do it either.

In JomSocial, this functionality is supplied by a 3rd party component, XiUS (by ReadyBytes), which lets you select exactly which fields to display for each search module, whether to limit the results to a particular profile type, etc. Is there something similar for EasySocial?

Thank, all - I hope to be able to make the jump to ES!

Cheryl
Hey there,

Yes, we do have advanced search from the menu item, you can create from backend > menu > add > Easysocial > show advanced search.

Unfortunately we do not have allow user to select which profile type custom field to show on the advanced search, but we have allow user to set which custom field he do not want to appear on the advanced search field selection.

You can take a look of my attached screenshot below.

Thanks for your quick response, Alex.

Unfortunately, without the ability to limit the search fields based on the profile type, my users are confronted with an unusably long list of fields, all of which would need to be searchable through advanced search for one of my profile types or another. (We help people connect with others who match very specific criteria, so we need lots of searchable custom fields to accomplish that).

Would you expect it to be a big undertaking to create a hack or custom component allowing the user to preselect the profile type?

Thanks,
Cheryl

hey Cheryl,

You're welcome, currently that was not possible to achieve this in current system, perhaps you can send us a request for this customization at our helpdesk https://crm.stackideas.com , so our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

Thanks, Arlex - I'll do that, though I think you'll find a lot of users would benefit from this feature so it is worth adding to your roadmap!
