Hello,

Currently the RSS feeds being auto posted to Twitter is a concern. RSS feeds are only posted to Twitter and Facebook but only when they are ran manually. The cron is setup correctly and runs every 30 minutes.

These are the steps that are happening:

1. Recreated a new token at Twitter and it works since RSS feeds are being posted to Twitter but only when the RSS feeds are executed in the joomla admin window manually.

2. Attached are the IPs of the Stackideas support that I have white listed

3. I am setting up all feeds as new feeds today. Will report back any changes.

Please use the new URL for the site. Let me know if there is anything that could be added.

Regards,
Milo
Hi Arlex,

Thank you for your reply. No apologies needed.

I have attached the Twitter info you required but I do not have a CPanel I just have a server.

Milo

Hello Arlex,

Thank you for your reply. I have added you to the white list. The issue still remains. I recreated new RSS feeds and still no auto-posting of those RSS feeds. They only get auto posted when I run the feed manually. I don't know what could have went wrong.

Nothing was changed except a new Twitter token but that is working fine. Is there a file that we should be checking?

Regards,
Milo

Hello Milo,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

May I know have you set up the cron to autopost your blog into the twitter account? Do note that the cron command for feed is different than the normal cronjob command. If you want the easyblog to automatically fetch the feed and autopost it afterwards, you need to create both cron command for cronfeed and cronjob. Refer the url command below.
For cronfeed = http://yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cronfeed
For normal cronjob = http://yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron

Do update us back if the problem still persist.

Hello Ezrul,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I have a normal cronjob running. I have it set to run every 30 minutes, it has been setup like this for 2 years. It was running fine until something happened the other day and I guess that has us scratching our heads for a solution.

*/30 * * * * /usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null "http://techlick.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cronfeed";

I did notice that the feed time that EasyBlog is reporting for all feeds is the same. Even if each feed is run at a different time the Last import column will display the same time. This is incorrect. It should label each one with the time it ran.

When I do an optimize on the DB it always gets stuck on postinstall_messages could you elaborate on what that table does?

Some feeds get posted to the homepage / frontpage and others only get posted to the category page even though I have "Publish on Frontpage" active in the RSS feed.

Unfortunately I do not know what has happened but I might have to setup the whole site again if we cannot figure out what happened to the auto posting of the RSS feeds. Every blog that I manually write or execute gets posted no problem to Twitter or Facebook, it is just the auto posting of the rss feeds that is not working.

Regards,
Milo

Just to say when I create a new RSS feed this message is displayed but it still is not working correctly as the feeds are not being automatically retrieved when the cron runs:

"Feed saved successfully. When the cron is executed, the system will automatically fetch entries from the feed"

This is what we are trying to fix. When posts do get posted from running the RSS feeds manually some are not going to the front page even though I have that option checked in the feed.

I know it is the weekend but does anyone have an idea on how we can fix this?

Could someone tell me what file or code has to be changed for the RSS feeds to be automatically ran. They still have to be manually click on to execute them in the joomla back-end.

I also installed EasySocial so could that be an issue?

Thank you for your time.

Milo

Hi Milo,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,

This issues is not related with Easysocial. I will continuous check on this.

By the way, I have disable this option "Send emails on page load" from your Easyblog backend setting.

Can you setup this cron command in your SSH?
*/5 * * * * /usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null "http://techlick.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron"

If can, also set your cronfeed time internal to */10 * * * *, is it okay for you?

Also can you setup a FTP account so that we can access in your Joomla Root Folder and try to debugging on this? Since now we can access in your Joomla backend every time right now.

Hello Arlex,

Thank you for the reply. I don't know what setting you changed that fixed the automatic retrieval of the RSS feeds but it is working now. I have my feeds set to 120 minutes and my cron set to 30 minutes so when the cron runs it fetches 2 feeds and they automatically go to twitter.

Could you tell me what do you think it was?

One thing is that the feeds, even though they are working now, some get posted to the homepage and others do not. Also when I click on a link from Twitter it doesn't bring me to the homepage it brings me to full page - it seems the URLs are misconstrued somewhere.

Please see attachments. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Regards,
Milo

Hi Milo,

Sorry for late reply to this,

It seems like just that Easyblog SEO behaviour is not set correctly.

By the way, I checked in your backend menu structure, it seems like you have created all the Easyblog frontpage menu item display of your blog post. I'm not encourage that all of your current Easyblog frontpage menu item assigned to display specially categories.

because it will messed up the correct post URL appear on your social media page. To fix this, you have to change your "Easyblog frontpage layout" to use "Single category blog layout".

Also, can you provide us with your Twitter and FTP access, so that I can take a look of your blog URL and troubleshoot with this issues?

Hello Arlex and thank you for the very fast reply. I think I know what happened. All the URLs were working correctly until something happened a week ago. I think there was some data corruption that we haven't been able to pinpoint. Let me test out your solution and I will get back to you. It maybe a few days but I will let you know. Thank you for your time.

Milo

I'm getting this again in EasyBlog 3.9 - sorry for the double posting but could you tell me what it was that you fixed so I can prevent this from happening again. Thank you.

HI Milo,

Sorry for late reply to this,

I believe last time what we did is suggest you turn off the setting and configure the conjob -> http://stackideas.com/forums/rss-feeds-update-deleted-long-thread#reply-198649 , by the way, I already replied you on your original post thread, please have a check.

Hi Arlex,

Thanks again but nothing was changed - that is what has me puzzled. The cron is fine and runs great - my server is setup so I get notices when the cron runs and it has been running great for a long time,

I never changed that setting and after I checked again the setting was back to ON - so now I switched it OFF. I'll let you know. Could it be my backup software that changes it? That was the last thing I did before I rolled out a new image.

I'll let you know - thanks again Arlex!

Regards,
Milo

No Arlex it did not work - I changed the setting back and still no automatic RSS Feed exporter working. Plus when I run the feeds manually and they do post to Twitter - when you click the link it goes to another URL instead of the homepage. Example Twitter post below. So the URLS are misdirected again.

EPIC” fail—how OPM hackers tapped the mother lode of espionage data http://bit.ly/1MZbxGp #tech

Hopefully you can look at it today and my software will not lock you out. I added both of your IPs. So you should be good to go.

Hi Milo,

Sorry for late reply to this,

I just reached office here, so my current IP address is 118.100.213.245 , hopefully you can unblock my current IP address in your security software.

Also can you provide us with your Cpanel access and Twitter access as well? So I can quickly do some testing here.
