Hello! I'm trying to set up an email campaign with MailChimp and I am having some trouble with the how much content is displayed and the image sizes that are pulled from the feed. They mentioned contacting you about how the feed is coded. Could you advise me as to how I can control this? Thank you!
Hey Trevor,

Sorry for the delay of this reply, got a little occupied with meetings earlier today. The post is already retrieving the "introtext" portion under the < description > tag. It is respecting the "readmore" tag that you inserted in your content.

Take a look at both my screen shot here,

Hey Trevor,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. I am not entirely sure what did they mean about "controlling how the feed is coded". What is their requirements? You can actually configure which content source to be taken from for the RSS feed as you can see from my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/NLhzLgvQ

Hello Mark,

No problem! So, MailChimp sent me this in an email:

"As for limiting the content, that is also dependant on how the feed is coded. As per industry standards, the <description> tag is used to include a short introduction to the blog and <item> tag includes the entire post. However, I have seen it done in a way where the <description> tag hosts the entire blog post.

Taking a look the RSS-Driven campaign in your account I can see that it is setup to pull in the <description> only, however, your blogfeed - ......... - hosts the entire blog in the <description> tag. The best way to move forward would be to reach out to your blog feed provider and ask them to code the feed as per industry standards."

Hey Trevor,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. What you can do is to configure EasyBlog to only retrieve the "introtext" portion of the blog post as shown on my screen shot above

Hey Mark,

I have already made sure that was selected, but it still sends the email with the entire blog rather than just the introtext.

Hey Trevor,

Hm, correct me if I am wrong but do you mean Mailchimp will read the RSS feed from your site and use the contents within the description tag to blast it in their newsletter?

If that's the case, what is the link to your blog / rss feed?

Hey Mark,

Pretty much, yes. They use the url of the RSS feed to pull content for the email. And I believe they use media tags from the feed such as description to do so.

I added the url for the blog.

Hey Trevor,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

The RSS Feed 's description tag contains the entire blog post even with the Read More option enabled about halfway though the post. And I have the Intro Text Option enabled on the back-end where it says "Blog Content Taken From" under General Settings.

Hey Mark,

Okay, so how would I be able to view that? And, why would MailChimp select the whole blog from the RSS Feed when it generates the the email? I have it set up to select the "introtext." Am I maybe missing a step somewhere?

Hey Trevor,

The rss feed is actually already truncated correctly as you can see from my screen shots above. Was the full content from that specific post which I have screen shot earlier?

Hey Mark,

I started messing around with some settings in Mail Chimp and then it worked the way I was hoping. Not really sure how I fixed, but it works now.
Thank you for your support on this matter!
