With 20 boxes shown inthe J! back end I am little lost as to what to do !
All I want to do is occasionaly add some 'simple' blogs of mine to my site, maybe with some comments back but definatly, at the moment, no guest input or linking to facebook, etc..
Any starter tutorials available ? Any books re v3.9 ?
Also have changed a couple of settings and now, when in 'Add New Blog Post' cannot get the categories dropdown to show the 8 categories that I have created.
Thanks:(
Hello Peter,

Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

The New User page allows me to do what ? Add a new Super User name ? The intention being to add myself but using a different name that will appear as the author of a blog.

The new user as the name implies allows you to create a new user account on your Joomla site. It's as simple as that. If you need to create blog posts as different authors, you would need to create these new user accounts.

However the New Blog Post page shows my name (by default?) with a browse option. When I browse will I find the other name that I wish to use ?

Yep, that's correct. Once you created these user's you will then be able to select them

Also I do not want my blog/s to appear on the frontpage. I will be using a Main Menu Item called My Blog or similar. Will all posts automatically go under this Main Menu Item?

Yes, all you need to do is to create a menu item that links to EasyBlog's front page layout

Also How do I add affiliate banners, etc. to my blog pages? Is this done through J! or through EasyBlog? If through EasyBlog where do I action this ?

It should actually be done through the banners extension at the back end of your Joomla site. Once you uploaded your banners, create a new banner module in Joomla and assign the module to the selected pages where you want the banner to appear

Hope this helps.

Hello Peter,

If you don't have much settings to configure, EasyBlog's default configuration should work out of the box without requiring you to customize most of the settings. However, if you need a simple getting started guide, you may refer to our guide here, http://stackideas.com/guides/easyblog.pdf .

Hi Mark,
The reason for my question was that I have changed several of the settings as I (currently) just want a simple configuration. NO sharing, NO facebook, etc., NO guest bloggers, NO team blogging, NO mapping, NO rss, NO remote blogging, NO 'special' anything etc. But did not know what I was changing and the resulting implications.
Initially I just need the basics.
How can I get this sort of thing set up ?
Can I uninstall EasyBlog and re install to remove all configuration changes ?
Is there a built in reset button ? I have J! 2.5.16.
Your offering (http://stackideas.com/guides/easyblog.pdf .) is not sufficient and leaves a lot of, WHY?, questions unanswered.
Your best advise please !
Thanks ...

Currently investigating backend and I want to add myself in the backend as a blogger but with a different name. How does UserName and Name differ ? Which 'name' appears on the front end ?
If I am adding myself then which email address do I add ? An email address that I already own ?

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the heads up on this. Unfortunately removing EasyBlog will not remove the previously saved settings. If you configured EasyBlog to use the username, the author's names that appears on the blog listings will be the user's username rather than the real name. This is the same if you configured EasyBlog to use full name rather than username.

Hi Mark,
One To address my question in a different way, I attach two screen captures that refer to the New Blog Post page and the New User page.
The New User page allows me to do what ? Add a new Super User name ? The intention being to add myself but using a different name that will appear as the author of a blog.
However the New Blog Post page shows my name (by default?) with a browse option. When I browse will I find the other name that I wish to use ?
