I need to remove the ability for frontend users to browse and install apps on their profile, I want to remove the link to browse and the text that says app on a users profile page (I am using the Frosty theme). I was also wondering if there is a anyway to set access permission for default apps. Currently I am using the music collection plugin and I only want one of my user groups(one profile type) to have access to this app.

Thanks
Matt
Hello Matt,

Ah, I see. Did you remove the access to the backend? I got this: Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet. However, I've removed browse button from your profile view and you can hide the app from your dashboard by turning off this option: http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-01-28_1245.png in Backend>Easysocial>Themes>Frosty>Dashboard.

Hello Matt,

Please replace the attached file in: ../components/com_easysocial/themes/frosty/toolbar/default.php. As for the permission of the default app, I'm sorry but it is not possible.

What was the edit that you gave me for exactly? I have attached a screenshot of the browse app link and text that is on a users profile page and this is what I needed to remove.

Thanks
Matt

Hello Matt,

Sorry for the confusion earlier. My hack just now is for the Application link on the toolbar. If you want to remove the filter on the sidebar, you can turn off this option: http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-01-27_1145.png in Backend>Easysocial>Theme>Frosty.

I already have that set to no however it still seems to display the app browse button. I provided my site details with another post so you can take a look. I do not want to remove the apps from being displayed, I will still need users to access the about, timeline, and default app that I have set but I do not want users to be able to browse and add apps on the frontend so i need to disable or hide this feature. Sorry if there was any confusion.

Thanks
Matt

Hello Matt,

Thanks for the access. We do need your admin access as well. By the way, Let me conclude your requirement, correct me if I'm wrong, you want the user see the app list in the dashboard but they can't use this Browse button: http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-01-27_1321.png ?

Hello Matt,

No worries on the company name. I've removed the browse button from your site in this file: ../indieu/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/dashboard/sidebar.apps.php. Please have a look.

Hi,

That did not get rid of the browse app button on the profile page and for some reason it also added the applications sidebar back on the dashboard page which I had removed ( the dashoard is the menu item 'my wall' under my profile).

Thanks
Matt

Hello Matt,

I'm sorry if I've misunderstood you, based on your previous reply, you have agreed only to remove the browse button. Can you elaborate more on it?

you want the user see the app list in the dashboard but they can't use this Browse button

Hi Alex,

I'm sorry if I'm wrong but I believe this is not an issue. This is a request which our developer need to consider whether this should be included in Easysocial or not.

Lol your right but still since 1.2 i have seen that zillion times and honestly its a matter of adding an option with a bool setting. I have seen many features added that were wayyyyyy less requested, longer or complex adding an option to put that off will be more than welcome bu many fellas

Nik,

Btw on my iphone the long url you post is breaking out of the frame/box since the string is too long... Should truncate. Maybe a matter to look in ED plus your forum

Hi Nick,

It did remove the browse button on the dashboard however I had already removed the entire app section on the dahsboard page and now it is back. I want users to only be able to view the app section on the profile only (not dashboard). I need to have the browse app button removed from the profile page but I still need users to be able to view the default apps.

Thanks
Matt

Ok thank you. And I did not remove access to admin but I changed the password for another support member. Let me know if you need them still.

Hello Matt,

You're welcome. Did you managed to hide the app filter from your dashboard?
