I am thinking about turning on the option in ES to store my media in Amazon S3. However, I also use my Akeeba backups as a copy mechanism for the entire site into a subdomain that I use for testing new components, plugins, mods, etc. If the live site uses remote storage, then I copy the live site into the test site, then aren't BOTH sites now updating the same S3 bucket? I am worried about the danger of that. Any ideas on how to make the copying of a live site easier, without having to worry about the backup site changing "live" data in Amazon?
I am using a backup site as well and for that I have switched off cron jobs. This prevents the uploading to amazon as far as I know. But I am not sure if this works for subdomains as well.

Another idea might be switching remote storage off before making the backup and switch it back on afterwards on the live site only. Maybe at a time where you got only very few visitors.

Hey Norske,

As long as you do not remove the items on Amazon S3 or do not change the settings for remote storage in EasySocial for your subdomain, I don't think there would be any issues.

As long as the database knows that these items are already on "amazon" it will not try to re-upload the items on Amazon
