I use EasySocial for registration and would like new members to receive an email requesting confirmation by clicking on a link to allow access to the site.

In the Profile type set up there are 4 options:

Require Admin Approval
Require User Activation
Normal Registration (Automatic Login)
Normal Registration (Manual Login)

I have Joomla Global Config/Users set to Self for New User Account Activation, but which of the above settings (except admin approval) should I use in EasySocial and what is the difference between them?

My reason for asking is I was using 'Require User Activation', thinking that was the correct option for auto-confirmation by users with a link, but new members are appearing as 'Pending Approval' in the ES Admin area requiring admin to approve membership.

I just switched it to 'Normal Registration (Automatic Login) in the Profile Registration tab, not sure if that is correct.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. Firstly let me tell you the difference of those Registration type
1. Require Admin Approval - need admin approval when user register
2. Require User Activation - a token has to be sent thru email and user need to activate it themselves
3. Normal Registration (Automatic Login) - User will automatically login after register
4. Normal Registration (Manual Login) - User need to login after register

By rights, If you choose the Require User Activation, admin no need to approve the user.
I've tested to register a new user where Require User Activation was enabled. The user was not go to the Pending Approvals. I am missing anything here?

Thank you for testing it, I have moved registration back to Require User Activation as you have confirmed it is working.

I have EBED/ES/K and JFBConnect, with everything linked to EasySocial as registration/login provider, but the pending approval problem does not always happen with new registrations and I do not always get a 'pending approval' email when it happens.

I also have AcyMailing for subscription to the newsletter.

BotScount, HoneyPot and Stopforumspam are all active.

There is 1 user currently in 'pending approval' and I did not receive an email for him, I only noticed he was there when in the EasySocial admin area just before updating to 1.4.9

I wonder if the problem is linked to anyone who registers through one of the other paths instead of directly through EasySocial?

If they registered using a different form, then EasySocial has not control over the registration process They MUST go through EasySocial's registration form in order for us to "alter" the registration workflow.

Thank you Mark, I will double check all the possible registration routes as I think there must be one that does not feed through EasySocial.
