Hello guys,

I'm writing this because I think Easysocial should get an improvement regarding Facebook registration option.

Currently if you want to use that feature, seams it's possible to use it only on site which have only one profile type, but if you have multiple profile types this can be problematic, because easysocial is forcing you to chose the profile type where user should be registered.

Instead I think it should allow them to chose what profile type they want to chose during the registration process.

Regards
Hello Valentin,

Easysocial does allow Facebook registered user to choose their profile type. I've tested in my local to register using facebook account and I was able to choose the profile type: http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-02-11_1652.png

Is there a way when using Register with Facebook, to step them to filling out required fields next? It seems like it goes to "waiting for approval" instead of asking for additional fields that I have marked as required...

Hello Austin,

Perhaps you can change the facebook registration type from "simplified" to "Normal Process" in your backend > easysocial > settings > facebook > registration, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-08_1715.png .

Hi Ezrul - Thanks for the reply.

I've tried changing to the Normal process, but it only asks for the profile type you want to register as, then the Username & Password and whether you want to import your avatar and cover photo. It completely ignores the other required fields (But you would think that this would be an option!)

Is there a file I can edit to add a single required field onto that page?

Hello Austin,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Ah I am sorry with the confusion in my previous reply. Currently you can't add an additional custom field to facebook registration because the main point of using facebook registration is to have a faster registration process. Once the registration has complete, if the user edit their profile, they will need to enter data for those required custom fields.

Thank you for the reply, I understand your intent. For us, however, the point of Facebook registration is to make use of Single-Signon. Since we operate a closed site, there is still the need to ask other questions (I could see this need for membership sites as well!).

How difficult would it be to add a custom field to the facebook registration (step 2) page?

Which file is the step 2 html, and I'll work on it and share it back with the community, since it seems to be a need...

I achieved this using JFBConnect, which integrates quite well with ES.

This is not perfect but limitations are minor. I discussed them with SourceCoast (JFBConnect Editor) here:

Hey Altitudes,

Thanks for the recommendation. Did you just set the Post Registration page to the profile to continue editing?

I like some of the features of JFBConnect, but I don't see a way to step through a new registration flow.

Not sure what you mean...

JFBConnect integrates with ES, you need to enable the integration in ES > Settings > Facebook.

Hi Austin Ramsdale,

Sorry for late reply to this,

Yes, you can using JFBConnect achieve this way after user authentication Facebook account completed then it will require user continuous fill in registration form. By the way, perhaps you can consult with Jfbconnect how to achieve this way?

Thanks for sharing Altitudes

Hi Arlex, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the registration portion is all in EasySocial - why would I ask SourceCoast how to change the registration flow? JFBConnect merely does the authentication then transmits control back to ES.

I believe I'll need to edit the source on step two of the registration, all in ES... If anyone else wants to jump in and help out, I'm going to start on that this week.

Hello Austin,

Thanks for the heads up on this. In the meantime you can find the registration flow when using facebook at your /components/com_easysocial/controllers/registration.php starting from line 408. Hope these help
