I have placed a menu item in Main Menu which directs a user to login using the menu item type "Login Layout."

When a user logs in, he is automatically taken to his profile page. I would like to have a user returned to the page he was on when he clicked the login menu item and to have a "Profile" item on the user menu so that the user may check profile on demand rather than have it come up upon every login.
Hi Robert,
You can head to this setting to configure EasySocial's default login/logout redirection setting: Settings>Users>Authentication>Login Redirection>Stay on the same page(or any other menu item you like)

However, there is no way to configure the redirection setting if you click on the login layout menu item first then login. This is because the system cannot detect what page you were on before you click on the login menu item.
The redirection works only in cases where you are forcibly redirected to the login page when trying to view pages that requires login, or if you use modules to login.

The only alternative I can think of if you want to use the 'Stay on the same page' setting is to use modules instead of menu item to login. Modules actually allows you enter your login info in the page you are on without needing to go into another login page. The modules you can try are EasySocial Dropdown Module and EasySocial Login Module. Try them out and see if they work for you.
