Hey there,
I think it would be way better to make the filters like a multiple choice with checkboxes and show all content instead of friends only. To be honest I see no point why it was filtering the friends items only when using the blog filter or discussion filter on the stream. And I am missing a plausible explanation for this behaviour.
Having checkboxes for filters would make this much more comfortable and combinable. If you want to see all discussion items from friends, you mark "me & friends" and "discussions" and there you go. If you mark "discussions" only, you see all discussion items, not just from friends.
The benefit is huge for this. In case you are running the full package with EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss, there is a connection of blog posts and discussions to the stream, but no way to filter these. To see all new discussions you have to go to EasyDiscuss first. With the filter, users could see all content of the site without leaving the dashboard. This makes interaction much more comfortable for users, especially for mobile users. The less clicks the better and the faster.
