Hi There,

I added ReCaptcha as required field during registration, so far, it has stopped bot registration in our website. But it's kind of created an issue (I think ReCaptcha is causing it), if a user edits their profile, an error message will appear:

There are some fields that cannot be left empty. Please fill in the highlighted fields to proceed.

But all of the required fields are already filled, except for ReCaptcha which I set to not show during edit. And there are non visible required fields highlighted that a user would know.

Can someone verify please.

Thanks,

Jackson
Based on what i check on your site, it seems like it did populate that red label from the tab title and it highlighted that empty password field when i press save profile button, you can check my video here : http://take.ms/Kiz2P

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

By right, when you set Recaptcha field do not appear during edit, it will not check for the validate for this required field.

Even I tried to set required from your 'Community' profile type, then login as sisupport user account and try edit profile, it save successfully.

Perhaps you can share with us which user account keep hitting that error during the save profile so we can better have a check?

By the way, i already disabled that required option from Recaptcha field from your community profile type.

Hi Arlex,

It is not the Recaptcha field, it is the password field. The user apparently used the browser save login credential feature and the password field is auto-filled by the browser but the Enter new password fields are blank since the user is not thinking of changing the password. I guess you got the idea.

Anyhow, what do we do to fix this? I know it is a small issue but shouldn't ES highlight the missing Enter new Password fields and the Account Info tab so their is a visual cue for users to know what's causing that error.

Thanks,

Jackson

There is no way to fix this unless you the password field itself is a clear text input. No matter how we try to disable autocomplete on the field, most passwords manager and (some web browser) ignores it.

Think of it this way, if we were to be supplying you a car but the roads are always flooded, there is almost nothing that can be done from our end unless we build you a boat

Hi Mark,

I got you, browser's feature supersedes everything.

But can we highlight the password fields and the tab title where the required fields are? That way, users will know what's going on.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hi Arlex,

Sorry it's my bad, I actually did not check the form behavior myself I just relied on the user's screenshot. Yes, you are right the fields with error is highlighted.

A little improvement if I may suggest, the text in tab with error is still not highlighted only the right border. It would be nice to emphasize it a little bit more. I made a CSS override, https://screencast.com/t/WuRSdydmSNyd.

Thanks,

Jackson

it okay

Thanks for your suggestion, I will discuss with our designer regarding this and see if we can add this in next release version.

As a gentle reminder, kindly start a new thread if you have any other issue in the future so it will be easier for us to manage your inquiry. I will lock and mark this thread as resolved.
