Hello,

when a new user has regestered and his account was activated, EasyBlog-stream shows a message like: "User Tupperware just registrated ..." So far so good, but if the account get's deactivated (by user or admin), the username will be replaced with real name. This is quite a catastrophy in my community. Is there a possibility to change this?

Can I deactivate these messages, so no registration-message is shown any more?

Kind regards
Samson

PS.: Screenshot shows posts of the same user. Username ist "Tuppperware", second one is the real name. This came up after deactivating the account.
Hey Samson,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Hm, this wasn't brought to my attention and yes, it does not make sense that the username gets replaced by real name and this is totally not acceptable.

This should have been the case and the real name cannot be visible to anyone if the site is configured to use username instead of real name.

Here's a quickfix, download the attached file and upload it into /administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/template/helpers/ . That should do the trick.

Hey Samson,

Hm, as far as I recall there is only stream for user's logging in and not "activation". Am I missing anything here?

Hi,

could you please have a look at the screenshot. It is part of the community-frontend. There are no posts, that somebody logged in.

The user (username "Tupperware" and real Name "Jürgen Berger") registered and immideately wrote the post. Then the user was deactivated in backend. After this, the username is replaced by the real name. Rename only happened for the automatted post.

My system creates these messages for every registration. I don't know, where to enable or disable these messages. Registration is realized by EasySocial-registration.

Kind regards
Samson

Hi Samson,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. You can turn off new registration stream by going to your backend > easysocial > applications > user - profiles > new registration, http://screencast.com/t/y6VTEeLP .

Hope these help.

Hello Ezrul,

I knew, I read it anywhere, but I couldn't find it anymore. Thank you for your help! For this moment, the problem is solved. But these registrations-messages are really fine. They make it possible, that members welcome new members. This is used rather often in my community.

My site is for patients with a tricky syndrome. The want to stay anonymous. They register with their username and many of them with ther real name. At registration the message is shown, that real name will never be shown. Then, they decide to leave my community, deactivate their account an everybody can see their real name. This can have serious consequences for them.

This behaviour should really be changed, I think. When the option is set, that username is shown, not real name, this should work also for this part of EasySocial. Perhaps I missunderstand something, but I think, this could also concern other sites.

Kind regards
Samson

I want to add: your software is so great. This seems like a really small error. I don't want to complain. Please see my post as a suggestion. For me, this effect is a problem. So why don't think about changing. I'm afraid of beeing missunderstood. English is not my native language.

Hello,

sorry, but now this problem came up again. The described effect also affects other entries. When a user is deactivated, username will be replaced with real name. In my opinion this is a heavy problem.

I'll try to explain shortly: Community stream should only show usernames, not real names. This is working. If a user is deactivated, username will be replaced with real name. Backend-setting is not respected any more.

Kind regards
Samson

A workaround could be using 'username to name' option in profile type settings and hide the name from registration. On this way there is only the username and no real name any longer...

Hi Samson,

I believe the best solution to this issue is to remove the stream completely when the user is no longer exist on the site. Kindly download my attachment below and place it inside your /media/com_easysocial/apps/user/profiles/ folder and see how it goes.

Hello,

thank you for suggestions. Unfortunately both can not solve my problem. I have a bulletin board for patients of a syndrome. They register with name and username. There are many reasons for this. Anonymity is promised. Further it is important, that they can not directly delete their accounts, but set them inactive. I will remove them later. But now, when they deactivate their account, their real names are readable for anybody. I don't understand this. There is an option to choose, wheter name or username should be shown. But for inactive accounts, this setting is ignored.

Normaly, I am a not as obstinately, but this time I think, it is a really bad behaviour of normalley extremely great EasySocial. I really hope, this can be changed.

Kind regards
Samson
