There's actually no "word limit" applied on the group discussions but do you mean the contents that appears on the stream? You can configure this by editing the "Groups - Discussion" app to set the limit

Hi Mark, I have a user who tried to post a huge entry and it cut it off in the post. She's decided to break up the entry into parts, which is more practical for the reader anyway, but it did bring to our attention that there is a cut off in the word/character count, it seems. I'm talking about the actual discussion entry, not how it shows up in the stream. Could it be some other factor?
