Hello... I'm considering creating GROUPS for the main areas of interest of my site users... and encouraging all STREAM POSTS to go through the appropriate group.

Couple of questions on this...

a) If the group is OPEN then posts made on its stream will show on the main Community stream?

b) If my users forgot to post from within the group (which I'm sure they will!) is there a way for SuperAdmin to 'move' a general Community stream post into the right GROUP?

Thanks for any comments on this!
Hey Andy,

Unfortunately that is not possible out of the box but do you really want to do this? It actually adds an additional step for users to post updates

Hi Andy,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

a) If the group is OPEN then posts made on its stream will show on the main Community stream?

Yes, if the group is an open group, all it stream activities will be displayed in your 'main community stream' and visible to your site's users.

b) If my users forgot to post from within the group (which I'm sure they will!) is there a way for SuperAdmin to 'move' a general Community stream post into the right GROUP?

I am sorry but currently EasySocial do not have the feature to move user's status update into groups

Hope this help and have a nice day!

OK thanks. Maybe I'll put some kind of message above the main Community Stream page telling people to post in groups if there is a group available for there topic. ...

Is there any easy way to have the story share box on the community page hidden / inactive until a button is pushed.. I'm thinking I could put a module or some text above it to say "Post in appropriate Group unless this is a general update for the community" and have after that a 'General Message' button which would allow use of the main share box?!

Understood.

My motivation for considering this comes from the power of groups to 'group' relevant information together AND to send email's to group members about new content.

Whilst (I think) I could try and get my users to use # filters when they make their postings, I think it'll be harder for them to do that, and the # filters used wouldn't automatically be visible as a complete list for people to filter the main stream by.... so instead my thinking is to send them off to the groups.

It's a sports site I'm talking about, so people post the stream on different sports.. tennis, swimming, football, etc. etc.
